The questions then are: What was his grandfather's name? his unit? his dates of service? his dates of service with that unit? when did they enter the camp? do the unit records support Barry's assertion? did they physically enter the camp itself or simply visit one of the satellite camps? does Barry have any evidence to support his assertion that his grandfather was one of those who entered the camp? Are there other soldiers who can corroborate Barry's assertion?

Completely, utterly, irrelevant.

Look at how Obama phrased the assertion. It's a "story in the family", so the only thing that really needs to be accurate is that ... it's a "story in the family". And if this starts to snowball, that's EXACTLY how it'll be played: Obama has already thrown a willingness to throw his grandmother under the political bus ... why not his ptsd-afflicted "uncle"?

Guess it's ok that he didn't take questions after the speech. Afterall, would anyone in the MSM follow-up with "Senator, could you please tell us what the meaning of "is" is?".

As an intelligent man, Barry should investigate the veracity such “family stories” before he spouts them to the public. If he wants to share these tales at a family gathering, so be it. At family reunions, I - and I guess most people - have repeated family lore that could not be verified by any reputable historical methods, but I would not dream of passing these stories on to the public.

What makes Barry's actions more reprehensible, is that he used these tales as a method to assure Jewish voters that he shares their concerns. He may have lied about something as deadly serious as mass murder, as if his grandfather's (alleged) experience gave the Illinois senator any license to pander to an ethnic group who suffered one of the most horrific crimes in history.

Why does this sort of action seem so common among Democrats? Lyndon Johnson was notorious for claiming that he won his Silver Star for being under fire in WWII. John Kerry's war record was proven to be a tissue of lies. and we all remember Hillary's war story. Yet as bad as was Hillary offering the story that her airplane landed under fire in Bosnia, Obama’s actions are far worse and are a little more proof that the Democratic Party has lost the connection between truth and falsehood, between reality and imagination.
