Excellent. I had the facts but not the time and really appreciate your putting things straight and in more detail.

You nention three disasters in 1979 but name two. Perhaps you were thnking of the failed Hostage rescue crisis, which was never an implementable plan. though perhaps the taking of our embassy and hostages was the thrid point.

More and more details are coming out that the Tabbas rescue was in fact a failed supply run for Afghans fighting the Soviets and never a hostage rescue.

I would include the disaster of the hostage crisis to the point "Revolution in Iran". The three disasters of 1979 I meant are:

1)-Revolution in Iran

2)-Soviets invade Afghanistan (although it harmed greatly the Soviets, it caused the US long-term problems with Islamism)

3)-Saddam grabbed total power in Iraq
