The problem is, the leftists have succeeded in getting just enough of the populace addicted to pork and entitlements, to ensure their perpetual re-election. It's only taken two generations to grow a nation of constituents willing to pull the 'D' lever as long as it gets them their Washington DC fix...
And it's not just the Democrat party's fault. The Republicans were handed an incredible opportunity in 1994 to reshape Washington. They started off strong, but it only took 12 years for them to morph into "Democrat Lite". I think it was Henry Kissinger who said that power is the ultimate aphrodisiac. Apparently it's also the ultimate corrosive agent for conservatism.
I agree the Republicans have blown it since 1994. Too many of them want to be liked by the DC “A List” media types than represent their constituents back home.
