Not a single minority in the control room - this was a white mans venture and totally racist America landing a craft on the moon for the first time in history.
I can see the headlines now.

Let's play this up across the World. How many tiny little Countries, who've only been around for under 300 years, are capable of fighting a major world war on terror while financing so many other of the world's issues, and being FIRST to do the nearly impossible of soft-landing a spacecraft on another planet!!!!!!???????
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!

Isn’t this about 4 hours early? What happened to speed things up?
To: libh8er
It went better than expected. An anticipated UHF dropout during atmospheric entry did not occur, and they were able to track it all the way down.

CNN quotes “Directors” as saying it was only 50/50...
That better not be true.
You don’t spend millions on something like this with the odds of success or failure matching the flip of a coin.

We watched this live on the Science Channel. One of the funniest comments was made, in an interview, by Mission Director Peter Smith. He was asked what would happen if one of the 12 rocket thrusters, which are designed to help slow the the lander’s descent, failed. He said it would just follow the other 11 rocket thrusters to the crash site. ;o)

Except for Fuk Li, Director of JPL's Mars Exploration Directorate, the person in charge of this whole operation.

I just want to know what right do we have to invade another planet? We sit here and complain about illegals coming over out borders but yet we INVADE another planet. How can this be justified?
just a joke son...
