McCain's Shocking Discovery
Yahoo News ^ | 22 May 08 | Joe Conason

Posted on 05/25/2008 8:42:04 AM PDT by TADSLOS

Disturbed by troubling connections and unflattering publicity, John McCain has just purged several prominent Washington lobbyists from his presidential campaign. Surely his intentions are laudable, but if Sen. McCain is consistent in ridding his campaign of such compromised people, he will find himself riding lonesome on the Straight Talk Express. That's because nearly all of his advisers, fundraisers and top staffers have worked on K Street, starting with his campaign manager, Rick Davis, and his senior adviser and spokesman, Charles Black.

From the beginning, the McCain team has been thoroughly infested with representatives of corporate special interests, from the campaign's national co-chairs, finance chairs, policy and political directors, and deputies of all descriptions down to the chairman of Young Professionals for McCain, who just happens to lobby for Airbus, the European aviation firm that benefited from the Arizona senator's long inquest against Boeing.

McCain has left himself wide open to attack from the likes of Conason by hiring and surrounding himself with shady lobbyists, including his campaign manager, Rick Davis. McCain likes to think he is a media darling. He is about to quickly find out that he is nothing more than raw meat for the kill- A Stalking Horse for Obama. Way to go, GOP.

...by hiring and surrounding himself with shady lobbyists...
:::::
This is a surprise? Standard modus operandi for Washington. Now, compare this scenario (shady lobbyists) to the criminal slimeball Dims. The Clintons? Shady? — no outright treasonous and criminal. Major felons. And Obama’s background in Illinois politics and his background with terrorists, anti-Americans?

If I have to choose between three piles of crap, I will take the one that smells the least....

This is nowhere near as dangerous as who OBAMA associates with. This is the media distracting from Obmam’s terrorists friends and friends going to prison. Pay no mind to it. They're just digging for dirt.

Oh yes, there will be much cannon fodder for the MSM, along with massive torpedoes to sink the not-so-good ship McHipocrite with by November.

What stupidity from the GOP to pick this loser in the first place!

At this point I wonder if McCain has any toes left after shooting himself so many times.

Pathetic...

If McCain continues to purge and repudiate, he may find himself completely alone by election day.

And all the while, his appologists keep on spinning how great a hero he is. Including McCain himself.

He’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. There ain’t no such thing as a successful political campaign without lobbyists, and there are few, if any, political pros competent to run a campaign who haven’t been lobbyists at one time or another.

Obama’s campaign is doubtless stuffed with lobbyists, mobsters, and terrorist sympathizers, but the MSM is unlikely to mention the issue.

McCain has made himself extremely vulnerable by ever raising this issue—which of course was central to his PR for McCain-Feingold and central to his contention that he’s an honest politician. (The Keating Five was an aberration, no doubt. But I expect we’ll be hearing all about it as the election approaches.)

Ha. He’s screwed both ways.

“What stupidity from the GOP to pick this loser in the first place!”

Sort of Bob Dole redux - except without a sense of humor.

Shady lobbyists? I thought McCain was ridding his campaign of CURRENT lobbyists? He said he would have none on his campaign and if they leave he does not. I don't believe someone who worked in an earlier position as a lobbyist would have any impact at all for him. Besides, Obama has lobbyists raising money for him even if they aren't active directly in his campaign on a day to day basis. Looking at both candidates and their negatives, Osamabama has far, far more to worry about then does McCain. In fact the paucity have negatives the lib media has come up with against McCain is quite telling. First a supposed affair with a lobbyist, went nowhere, then his being born out of the country while his Dad was stationed overseas made him ineligible for the presidency (absurd) went nowhere, and finally the frantic attempt to equate the endorsements of 2 people with the endorsement of Wright to Obama will go nowhere because he was never a member of either Parish.

McCain's past is an open book, everything is known about him while Obama is STILL a blank page just waiting to be written on by the Rep and the 527's. Sure McCain will disavow the 527's and ask them to stop the negativity but as the saying goes you cannot put the toothpaste back in the tube. McCain by 10 points and 50+ EC votes

Don’t forget that it was the Values Voters, Social Conservatives, and Monomaniacal Single-Issue Anti-Abortion Party that gave the Huckster Elmer Gantry 25 percent of the vote right to the bitter end, giving McCain the numeric advantage he wouldn’t have had otherwise.

Nope, no elephants in the GOP living room, are there?

And it ain’t RINOs and “liberals” either.

Elephant in the living room, as repeatedly predicted by Barry Goldwater 30 years ago.
