Yes, I agree with your excellent take.
Reliable sources is going to have a segment on the OReilly/Olbermann feud. I laugh at this characterization. Its the OReilly NBC/MSNBC feud and the Olbermann incessant attacks on OReilly and FNC.
The problem, of course, is that if you don't put up an intelligent, hard-fought fight you will lose.
Despite the problems in this country, the Republicans could have a chance if they'd fight back smartly. Lets take energy and the sky-rocketing fuel prices, for example. The Republicans should make a big fuss about how we're not drilling for more oil, and doing it for the little guy who is hurting. This is one thing they should push, and push hard. Any dems making remarks against drilling, like Durbin last week, should be specifically held up and ridiculed, and shown how folks like him don't care about the average American who is suffering due to high energy prices. Hit them hard, again and again. Push a bill that would immediately do away with 50 different gasoline formulas and go to a national regional standard of only a few blends. Push for legislation making it far easier to build new refineries now, ensuring that their construction can't be held up by some activist judge. Demand the debate on safe nuclear power be brought to the forefront of the national discourse, and fight for new nuke plants to take the load off of fossil fuels now.
This should be a charter document of the republicans right now, similar to the Contract With America from 1994.
Instead, all we get is McCain's global warming me-too-ism, and him equating ANWR with the beautiful Grand Canyon.
Actually, the feud really benefits Olbermann. Would he get ANY attention without it?
In Anwar we have a huge problem. They can only work there when the ground is frozen since the rest of the year the turf there is very unstable for any equipment,it's frozen about 4 months out of the year.
(I think Morgan's wife gave me that)That aspect alone exaggerates the time needed to go from drill to pipeline(there is so much oil up there a new pipeline would probably be needed to get it out) to refinery needed in Alaska.
Some estimates are 8-10 years with current rules and regs in play from drill to refinery.
One possibility is a Marshall type plan which could possibly cut the time in half or less depending on the men, machines and money allocated in these short 4 month of each year segments.
It's all about desire, getting the job done, and mostly about politics.
The politics of not destroying a country in order to reign in Socialism which the enviro/rats want and the dems are helping as hard as they can.
In the Gulf it's another world.
I have asked around and have learned that drilling in the Gulf can happen in 8 months to three years depending on the circumstances, take away all the govt. prohibitions and it's a slam dunk! We just do it. There are years and years of oil out there and more being discovered every year.
Once again the rats and the DBM have demagogued oil spills in the 60's and 70's(which are non-existent today) so much that the populace and most House members have been totally brainwashed into fearing a vote for drilling closer to home or where the oil is.
Sad to say but whether or not we drill in Alaska and closer to home in the Gulf will point the direction the country will take. Will we head more toward capitalism and a vibrant nation/economy or toward socialism/Communism which is what the Democrat party is advocating.
Time will tell but we go bankrupt in 6-8 years if we do nothing.
Clinton/RFK flap is the first up on Meet the Prost’ -—
Doris K Goodwin, disgraced historian, says it’s troubling for playing into fears.
MoDo: “she and Bill seem engaged in a hostile takeover” “she does wish him ill”
You know the Clintons are very careful wordsmiths, says another common tator, and unfortunately “it poked a sore.”
Brit Hume could. So could Dr. Charles Kruthammer. Also, consider the following: Tony Snow. Neil Cavuto. Ollie North.
I agree with that, and indeed, beleive that Olbermann’s attacks on OReilly were for the sole purpose to get him attention. Truth be known though, at this point, the attention Olbermann is getting is extremely negative. When the NYTimes starts to question the relationship between the hate speech of MSNBC and NBC and the bleeding over to NBC of the likes of Olbermann, then finally, the Olberidiot is getting the kind of negative attention he deserves.
I have personally sent emails to the CHairman of the Board of GE and I have my own little personal boycott of MSNBC and GE; not that it matters much, but I am doing it nonetheless.
If we did somehow increase oil production, would we not need to build new refineries? The eviro mules won’t allow that either will they?
It seems like the person who drew the short straw got to be the head of the RNCC. I cannot remember seeing such an UNcharismatic spokesman before in my life!!!
No one else in Congress must have wanted that thankless job this year.
“She is counting on cataclysm...”
“Kinsley: A gaffe in DC is when somebody tells the truth...”
(Meacham on MTP)
morning everyone!!
McCain is truly a village idiot.
“I’m still looking forward to having somebody on these shows explain the difference between Barack Obama using the word sweetie and George Allen using the word Macaca.
It’s easy.
Allen is a Republican
Obama is a Democrat
The Dem on FOX just talked about not wanting to give amnesty to telecommunications companies that collaborated with the Bush administration.
******
Just like when Maxine Waters let slip the word “socialize” when speaking to the oil co. execs, this dem just let slip the fact that they see a Republican administration as their ENEMY.
Carol Costello is on Reliable Sources; she is a CNN contributor on Reliable Sources. She is claiming that women are just as guilty in the media regarding the “sexism” towards Hillary, and how come we never criticize the likes of Jane Fonda and some other liberal who called Hillary a witch, spelled with a b.
Of course, this is the same Carol Costello who called Mrs. McCain a “stepford wife”. Oh so typical of the arrogance of a CNN analyst who is really just a liberal lefty under the title of “news analyst”. Snicker, snicker.
Howie is being taken to task by his guests regarding his attempted comparison of Wright to Hagee, by ALL the guests.
Next up: The NBC falsification of the interview with President Bush. Should be interesting. I predict: Howie will defend NBC (duh)!
I commend you for your activism. I think I’ll give an email to him some thought, as well. You’re inspiring!
They aren’t even trying to hide their plans anymore for a Stalinist style witch hunt if they are elected are they?
