“...obesity has always been stigmatized.”

Including all too frequently right here on FR.

I mock the obese. But it’s for a higher purpose.

Are we supposed to be celebrating obesity diversity and I didn't get the memo, or what?

There are more than a handful of crypto-liberals on FR.

They front as conservative until something comes along they disapprove of, then they would give the scumbags at DU a run for their money.

Ah! But during the Roman Period and even into the early 19th Century a full figure or more was considered to be a sign of wealth and well being.

When I was a child I was extremely active, they should have diagnosed me with HADD. My Grandparents used to tell me I was too skinny, which made me feel a bit inferior. then in the sixties when Twiggy and and the new designers came into power, I fit right in.. Still I was told by my folks that I was too skinny and that I should eat. Heck I could put away a quart of ice cream and by morning I would have lost at least 1 pound. Go figure.

Leave people alone is my view, I look on the inside not on the outside.

Makes you wish the monitor worked both ways so we could see what the stigmatizers looked like..

But FR is just a reflection of one part of Society. At the other end are the Fat Acceptance and "Big Is Beautful" people.

For me, it's not the weight issue that is a problem, it's the lack of fitness. I used to visit my niece at her college and have lunch with her and her friends. One would think, "Wow, being surrounded by college girls.."

Umm...pot bellies and flabby arms on both sexes. Too much internet, video games, etc.

We do not see children playing outdoors much or walking to school any more compared to a generation or two ago. The SUV caravans await the school bus so the kids do not have to waddle a few hundred feet.

Given this, of course we are getting fat and weak.

Here I am typing when there is a lawn to mow and a stump to dig out...
