"The raid - resulting in the largest child custody case in American history - was based on a lie."
"Police traced the calls to 33-year-old Colorado Springs woman named Rozita Swinton. Swinton had earlier been arrested for making a false report, and accused of posing as "Jennifer," 16, who called 911 to report that her father had locked her in a basement for days. Swinton may also have posed as thirteen-year-old Dana Anderson, who was being sexually abused by her pastor and raped by her father. There is no evidence that Sarah, Jennifer, or Dana exist. Swinton remains a "person of interest" in the case, but has not been charged in connection to the raid. "
It could well be. Probably the locals were frustrated at needing an angle to go after what they knew was going on under their noses. The managers of this slave trade seemed to have lawyered up and told enough lies at the beginning of their commune development--a "hunting camp"--and they seem to have a lavish stash of cash. Somebody knows how to work the system.
Probably a lot like American Gypsies (the Rom) who can work a short con and a long con and thwarting LE with pure genius and high artfulness-- But authorities have commited a lot of resources, and there's no going back.
I try not to let my emotions rule either. CPS was correct in going in and looking for Sarah. When they didn't find her and they knew that Jessops (I might have the wrong name it is getting late) was in Arizona. The should have left and began a more detailed background investigation. They could have had agents at the compound for weeks looking for Sarah and interviewing people. Camaras, identification, relationships, DNA, etc. etc. etc. and they had a reasonable justification. No one could fault them if they had done that. And if they never found Sarah they could use that as a justification to start searching and investigating all of the FLDS compounds.
Instead of it being a nightmare for the CPS, it would have been a nightmare for the FLDS. Enforcing the laws fairly, reasonably and impartially makes all the difference.
Someone panicked in the CPS and screwed up big time. When they started kidnapping adults, they went way over the line. Someone at the CPS thinks that they are judge, jury and executioner. That person needs to spend some time in a gray cell rethinking taking the law into their own hands.
Yeah, but Jeffs set the compound up and populated it with his most loyal, most hard-core polygamy supporters. His chief enforcer "Big Willie" Jessup and his right hand man Merill Jessup run the place.
And haven't you noticed yet the high proportion of children there bearing the surname 'Jeffs'? It's his compound through and through, whether he's in jail or not, and he still runs it through Willie and Merrill. Come on, get your head out of the sand! This is not only a religious cult of the worst sort, but a criminal enterprise based upon "Bleeding the Beast," i.e. Welfare Fraud.
Didn’t realize the oh-so intellectual governor of Texas was a Rudy supporter:

Boy, can he sure pick ‘em!
Your post reminds me of a scene I saw on TV last night from the movie “Oceans Eleven” where the casino operator thinks he has everything totally under his control and then sees it all fall apart at the end. Hey Governor Perry and your fantastic stormtroopers over at CPS — how does it feel????
Well, that's been my point all along. Warren Jeffs and "Big Willie" and Merill Jessup (and their forebearers) have set up a slick criminal enterprise in which their polygamy and mind control over their women and children exist in a very grey area of the law that makes prosecuting the "dirty old men" here extremely difficult since none of the victims are cooperative and refuse to testify against the perps.
The cult needs to be broken up, and all the perps rounded up and imprisoned, but doing that is a tall order because of the frustratingly complex family relationships built by Jeffs during his big shell game, which was designed to skirt the law.
this of course won’t matter to the lynchmob around here..what good are facts when you have “feelings”.. reminds me of the folks at DU. Didn’t know so many of them posted here in disguise..
LOL I hadn't really realized that there might be a big downside for the endorser : ) Was Rudy the huge loser of the Republican Nomination?
I also didn't know that Texas was so liberal.
Everyone knows? I’m sorry is that a legal term for evidence? You know because you’ve lived there? Or do you just go around hanging people on “everyone knows”? Maybe someone should take away your kids (if you do I feel sorry for them) because “everyone knows” you are an unfit parent with odd notions about how to raise them.. or because you post on a conservative website? Why don’t you just admit you were wrong?
Nobody has shown any evidence whatsoever that any abuse has occurred. Nobody has been arrested for it and no charges have been filed.
You have an agenda
I have been compiling a list of the Freedom lovers vs the lynch mod and was amazed by huge numbers who defend the constitution (178) vs the number in the Lynch Mob (15). It is a small minority, but they are massive posters.
the only thing your “taqline” shows, my dear, as well as your post, is that you are scared to death of patriarchy in any form..and could not believe for a second that any woman would purposely be part of a multiple marriage unless she were brainwashed. Just because you are clearly afraid of men and very insecure, doesn’t mean every woman is. Some women have different beliefs from you and that’s ok.
It has been proven ad nauseum that there was no welfare fraud.. at all... but you can’t wrap your tiny little mind around that can you? oh and the fact that there has been no evidence of any kind of abuse..you have a vendetta against these people and no amount of evidence will sway you from that. very sad.

Wow, I didn’t realize we had that many on our side.. I guess I thought there were a lot more in the Mob because they post so often and so vehemently.
You are guilty of fuzzy, emotional, thinking, just like the CPS. Notice your priority of sins 1. A religious cult. (not even illegal) 2. A criminal enterprise based on welfare fraud. A Texas State auditor admitted that none of the members are on any kind of assistance. I think you might mean medicare fraud but that is entirely different and that hasn't been alleged.
When people get emotional they get stupid, even if they are right. That is what happened to the CPS. They went in legitimately looking to save Sarah. When they were confronted by defiance, they got angry and started seizing kids and adults. Can anyone say oops?
It was precisely emotional people like you, Virginia Ridgerunner, who screwed up in Waco, Duke, Ruby Ridge, Scotts, Mcmartin, etc. I know that you feel that you are in the right and I happen to agree with most of what you are saying, but and this is a big but, you have to be smarter and tougher than your opponent. When you get emotional you make mistakes that in the end help your opponent.
Repeating lies and unverified claims only discredits you and helps your opponent when they are uncovered. Then the emotional backlash of the observers makes you out to be worse than the people that you were attacking.
What is that old phrase, Evil triumphs when good men do nothing. Maybe it should be changed to Evil triumphs when good men act stupidly. I suppose that you consider yourself a Christian, so I will quote Christ, be as harmless as a dove and wise as a serpent. What he is advocating is not simply not doing nothing, he is advocating a type of Jiu Jitsu that uses evil against itself. If you don't follow your masters teachings, you aren't a follower.
Nobody has been arrested for it and no charges have been filed.
Very true at this point in time. However the criminal side of the process lies in the hands of the DA for the area and the Feds if they have any interest in the development since I think they did have a warrant issued also. You aren’t hearing anything about what is being developed or not done on the criminal side. That will come forth if it does when the DA brings a petit jury into session and secures indictments.
The current ruling by the 3rd Court of Appeals doesn’t stop the process as I read it. It only requires the return of the children and that requirement has been appealed to the Texas Supreme Court. It may not be heard so we don’t know the outcome of that part of the process yet.
Whatever the outcome and assuming the CPS continues with the investigation then we’ll begin to see action on individual cases. That assumes the parents and children continue to remain at the ranch or in Texas in order to be under the CPS action.
The legal process is ongoing and will work itself out. The biggest question will be what the final outcome will be. We’ll see as this moves forward and hopefully the correct process will be followed for the good of all.

If you believe the FLDS are so great, why don’t you send me a list of young girls you know and I’ll forward them on to the FLDS patriarchs for “education” in how nice they are.
It was eye opening to me too. The good guys only tend to make a post or two then move on. The bad guys post on and on and on.
I think what we are seeing is the difference between passion and logic. I think it also bleeds over to the difference between conservatism and liberalism. The lesson that I have learned from this is that conservatives are probably the vast silent majority in this country, but they lack passion and allow the fervent minority to intimidate them into going away and not voting because they think it is hopeless and that they are alone.

Got it now?
At no time did you see me say that the FLDS is so great.
I will tell you this tho. I’d rather have the FLDS living next to me than half the idiots on this board who think that the government can do no wrong and the press has the market cornered on Honesty.
