WASHINGTON Money pouring into the closely watched primary battle between former Rep. Doug Ose and state Sen. Tom McClintock is approaching $4 million and spending is not far behind, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.
The two Republicans are vying in the 4th Congressional District for their party's nomination to succeed Rep. John Doolittle, who is retiring at the end of the year in the face of a three-year federal investigation of his relationship with former lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
New reports for April 1 through May 15 showed McClintock raising more money from individual contributors than Ose, but Ose more than wiped out that advantage as the wealthy Sacramento-area developer dug deeper into his own pocket to support his campaign.
Ose's report showed he had raised $231,857 from individuals, bringing his yearly total from them to about $456,000.
But Ose notified the FEC late Wednesday that he'd lent his campaign another $475,000, pushing to more than $2 million the amount he has transferred this year to his campaign, which has taken in about $2.7 million from all sources.
The McClintock campaign reported Thursday that it had raised almost $690,000 during the six weeks ending May 15, none of which came from his own pocket. That total pushes the amount he has raised since entering the race in February to more than $1 million.

We need McClintock back. I have already cast my ballot for him , I believe he will win, Ose is a typical RINO out to unseat a conservative and telling outrageous lies about Tom.
I believe that this is one of yours.
BTTT
McClintock, who is not personally wealthy, has been helped by a provision in federal election law called the "millionaire's amendment,"I think McClintock will do fine, in spite of the spending difference, but our campaign finance laws are a stupid joke.
I have to agree with you there!
I'm reading some local blogs on the 4th District race. Sheeez! These folks get ugly!
If I didn't know better, I'd think that Ose is trying to take out McClintock to help Charlie Brown (D) win.
I don't think it would be the first time GOPers worked to destroy McClintock.
On a more positive note, the recent polls they are citing say that McClintock is leading 54% to 24%. :-)
Absentees sent. Two solid votes for Tom. Ose vote pusher called; I told her to place us on her Do Not Call list. LOL
Thank God for little favors and I hope those polls are right!!!
We sure don't wanna go all the way from John T. Doolittle, key conservative, all the way to that dumbass Demonicrat Charlie Brown, "he's a clown!" (why is everabudee always pickin on me???)(and certainly not with another RINO Ose!!!)
A lot of it is guilt based and the mixing of religion with politics really sets off the guilt trips on an emotional cresendo!!!
People really get frenzied and vicious about public policy being pushed by clerics as we're witnessing right now in the war over preachers between Obomba and McMistake and their preacher buddies!!!
Then you throw in something as personal between one and one's God as abortion and LOOKOUT!!! This rocks everything and I'm convinced it even causes demonic possession in some Demonicrat and Repellican feuds.
As Jesus Christ once said: "Render unto Ceasar..." but folks just cannot seem to seperate their belief systems from their politics and it always causes strife in the public policy arena everytime it's tried!!!
I like the story of Jacob's son Joseph in the bible when he got promoted to being the Pharoh's top administrator. Of course history would have been whole lot different if Joseph had of been forced to run the gauntlet of the democratic process!!!
Furthermore, I've happily marched along with my colleagues over at the Sacramento Union who endorsed Tom. Not that they needed my prodding on this one. The folks on the team at the Union didn't need to hesitate for one minute before endorsing Tom for Congress, just as a lot of these same folks were there for Tom for Governor and prior to that Tom for Controller, etc...
There are few politicos as good as Tom - he actually sticks to his beliefs and gives it to ya straight!
Good job, Impeach!
Tom is definitely a breath of fresh air.
