Concerning the military patches:
Do you know when they were found? Does any FReeper here know if these are of a current islamic nation?
The first appears to be Iranian, and the second has English on it (Turkish). If I'm correct, they may be several decades old.

The Defense Language Institute (DLI) at Lackland AFB in San Antonio had many Iranian and other mideastern ally pilots learning English there during the late 70s. They were free to sightsee around the countryside during the weekends like any other allied personnel. When the Shah was overthrown, the Iranian students applied for asylum here.
Summary: these may be (probably are) some of their patches; after all, it would be crazy for enemy infiltrators to be wearing a uniform identifying which country they were from!

It's not from Iran. The writing is Arabic.

The threat of infiltration through Mexico is very real, as is the one through airports. But ROLF of HILL COUNTRY is absolutely right. There is no point in wearing badges and uniforms (also what Uniform is red?) when you are a terrorist infiltrating through the border. It's also unlikely that the badge would rip only to be found... I doubt the badges are legit.
