In other words, it wasn’t his fault.
Actually:
1. If mentally ill, he might have less responsibility. That does not make him less dangerous and almost assure a “life” sentence in an institution.
2. The fact of his mental illness warns the public in general and relatives of the weak that Islam may try to prey on them.
