When one of the Democratic Party's most astute strategists this week criticized John McCain for attacking Barack Obama's desire to engage Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, I asked what the Republican presidential candidate ought to talk about in this campaign. "Health care and the economy," he replied. That is a sure formula for Democratic victory, but it is one that McCain's campaign rejects.
Obama embraced that formula once it became clear that he would best Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination. He began pounding McCain for seeking the third term of George W. Bush. At the same time, Obama implores McCain in the interest of "one nation" and "one people" not to attack him. The shorthand, widely repeated by the news media, is that the Republican candidate must not "Swift boat" Obama. That amounts to unilateral political disarmament by McCain.
McCain is not about to disarm. His campaign has no intention of fighting this battle on Democratic turf. During the more than five months ahead, Republicans will explore the mindset of this young man who is a stranger to most Americans. That includes his association with the Chicago leftist William Ayers, who has remained unrepentant about his violent role as a 1960s radical. This will not be popular with McCain's erstwhile admirers in the mainstream news media, but America has not heard the last of Bill Ayers in this campaign.
Indicating what lies ahead is the McCain campaign's plan to bring in Tim Griffin, a protege of Karl Rove, who is a leading practitioner of opposition research -- digging up derogatory information about opponents. Although final arrangements have not been pinned down, Griffin would work at the Republican National Committee, as he did in Bush's 2004 re-election campaign.

A vote for Obama is a vote for the return of “fireside chats sweater” and everybody again learning about the term “stagflation.”
Some of Jammah’s memorable words:
Everyone should turn their thermostats down to 68 F.
A mortgage rate of 20% is what we have to realize is the future of this country.
The best years of America are behind us.
That is a Brilliant Post!
All McCAin Surrogates should MEMORIZE it.
It just gave me this idea......when Obama wails about McCAin serving out George Bush’s thrird term......McCAin should respond, that is at least better than serving out Jimmy Carter’s second term......and the launch into what mess Carter left behind......
Maybe it won’t work......but typing Obama to Carter will cool that CHANGE BS. Or so I hope....
Best thing about McCain is he mite kick off shortly after being sworn in. I’ll sit this one out. Brew your poison.
There is a great deal of disinformation out there about Obama’s position on “negotiations” — he and his campaign have been LYING and backpedalling about what he has said. In fact, in the CNN debate last summer, he specifically said he would meet individually, without preconditions, with the leaders of “Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea, in order to bridge the gap that divides our countries?” [quote is how question was phrased]
“QUESTION: In 1982, Anwar Sadat traveled to Israel, a trip that resulted in a peace agreement that has lasted ever since. In the spirit of that type of bold leadership, would you be willing to meet separately, without precondition, during the first year of your administration, in Washington or anywhere else, with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea, in order to bridge the gap that divides our countries?COOPER: I should also point out that Stephen is in the crowd tonight.Senator Obama?OBAMA: I would. And the reason is this, that the notion that somehow not talking to countries is punishment to them — which has been the guiding diplomatic principle of this administration — is ridiculous.”

What Obambi and virtually all of the MSM and Demagogues do not grasp is that Sadat did not just wake up one morning and fly to visit the Knesset. There had been extensive diplomatic preparations, both Israel and Egypt had made clear to each other they were moving toward a peace treaty and the outlines of that treaty were already clear.... THEN Sadat made the personal visit to confirm the process and build confidence.
The question is not could there ever be an agreement with one of those countries, it is under what circumstances should a US President engage personally in diplomacy with one of those countries; the idea that it should be “without preconditions” and without any prospect of a reasonable agreement is what makes no sense.
No matter what the Obambis of the world may think, a US President should not EVER get in a room 1-on-1 with scumbags like Ahmawhackjob et al; only possible exception would be if they’ve already agreed to the main outlines of what we are looking for in an important agreement that will truly be of value.
All these liberal twits can never try to specify what these negotiations would be about or what might be agreed to, because the EU has been trying for 5 YEARS to nail down an agreement with Iran and it’s been obvious that the Mullahs are just stalling for time.
