Senator John McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, on Friday is scheduled to meet with two Republican governors who have been prominently mentioned as potential running mates, according to Republicans familiar with Mr. McCain’s plan.
Charlie Crist, the governor of Florida, and Bobby Jindal, the governor of Louisiana, have both accepted invitations to meet with Mr. McCain at his home in Arizona, according to Republican familiars with the decision. One Republican said that Mitt Romney, a former rival of Mr. McCain for the presidential nomination — is also expected to visit him this weekend. Mr. Romney’s advisers declined to comment.

It seems too soon for Jindal ... he could be an excellent presidential contender in another 4 or 8 years, but it might be better to allow him to amass more experience and accomplishment as a governor before putting his name forward on a presidential ticket.

You already have a far left "moderate" (aka a demonrat) at the top of the ticket. Add another moderate as the VP and they lose and the GOP, as we once knew it, is finished forever.
Agreed, but I think it’s pretty obvious that the conservative Christians do not want Romney, and McCain has got to pick someone who will appeal to those voters.
Romney??!! With all the anti-Mormon press setting the word “crazy” into the public awareness of that group, with Romney’s quotes about John McCain available on video (”He’ll say anything to be president”—Mitt on John), and with all of Romney’s flip-flopping-flipping-again on issue after issue, he’ll drag the ticket down to a depth of voter unease that even McCain won’t recognize it.
But maybe I just don’t like the guy. Fred Thompson is my choice, and McCain owes him for blocking for him on his end runs to the end-zone of the nomination.
I’ll say it again: NO ONE serious about a future in politics will accept being Juanito’s running mate.

Speaking of Duncan Hunter, I received this a copy of this email a short time ago:

Weird. By definition, a moderate cannot be far left.
There are, of course, no conservatives. And no liberals. There are only people more conservative or more liberal than others.
Obama is more liberal than McCain. McCain is more conservative than Obama.
I see his manservant, Lindsay Graham, is on the list.
And we can't have that.
In truth, I wish we had someone who would make the moonbats heads spin right off their necks, but the reality is Santorum is a very polarizing figure and he would definitely distract from McCain campaign constantly defending his VP to moonbat reporters

Normally I would agree with this 100%. However, in this case I will be choosing to vote/not vote McCain based almost exclusively on whom he picks for VP. I'm currently leaning toward a third-party vote, on the principle that a McCain win would destroy the future of the GOP as a conservative base (and would essentially give us a one-party system). However, McCain's VP will be in the best position to define the future of the GOP in 2012 and beyond -- so if it's a conservative, then I'll vote for the future no matter how little I like McCain.
On the other hand, if it's more of the same-old/same-old big government, rudderless GOP establishment (Crist, Romney, etc.), then it solidifies my third-party vote.
As a Floridian I can verify that The Tan Man is in no way qualified to be president. To me, this is the most important consideration in selecting a VP. Given McQueeg’s age and health history, there’s a good chance that his VP will become POTUS. Among these three, Romney is the only one ready on day one.
For me, it makes ALL the difference between voting for McQueeg or executing my tag line.
