What I meant to ask was, was the damage meant to escape inspection, and cause aircraft failure down the line?

One foot for every month he was at Boeing......
In the “old days”......folks handled things like this on their own..

His success is unimportant -- whether he was smart enough to cut the right wire or place a washer in the right place to bring the craft down or not --- he committed SABOTAGE...
The effectiveness isn't the point - the act is the crime.
