Tom Cruise Giving the Scientology "Salute"
If there's any doubt that the enforcement of political correctness in the U.K. is turning ordinary citizens into criminals, a 15-yr-old youth was issued a criminal summons after he had written on a sign that Scientology was a cult.
Police confiscated his protest sign at a demonstration against the Church of Scientology at their headquarters in London and then issued him a criminal summons. According to the British newspaper the Guardian, the 15-yr-old had written on a sign: "Scientology is not a religion, it is a dangerous cult". The police called it "abusive and insulting".
Just who was abusive and insulting?
The unnamed 15-yr-old boy stood his ground and quoted a 1984 High Court ruling by Justice Lahey in which the justice described the religion as "corrupt, sinister, and dangerous".
We agree. We find the fact that anyone could face a criminal proceeding for calling Scientology a cult abusive, insulting, and sinister.

Good one! I’ll have to remember that.

The charge is thoughtcrime. And all will be found guilty.
The barometer of England's final demise continues to plummet.
Tom Cruise is sick.
I wonder if these thought police realize they are creating a new black market for a new type of pornography? Let’s call it political pornography. There may even be good money in it someday.
We are seeing the fruits of political correctness . The tyranny of the majority is an insidious disease . We need to emphasis the individual right to call a belief you do not agree with a cult and the right of cult members to practice their unorthodox beliefs . No , I am not talking about child molesters or other criminal acts .
That's tagline material right there! Do you mind if people use it?
"Our new Islamic and Iranian overlords have promised us so much. I love them."
“PC Run Amok”
It hasn’t run anywhere. It is doing exactly what it is supposed to do.
If he was talking about Islam he could get his throat cut. The West needs to show it has the sense to survive.
...and of course Bridgette Bardoux is on trial in France for insulting Muslims, Mark Steyn in on trial before the Canadian Human Rights Commission for the same charge, and David Irving is serving a 3 year jail term in Austria for his (erroneous) viewpoints - denying the Holocaust. We rarely stop to think about how unusual our near-absolute First Amendment right of free speech is...in fact there’s nothing like it anywhere else in the world that I’m aware of.

Actually, I think we tend to forget how much our Freedom of Speech separates us from other countries, even the UK. Let’s not forget that the press is still pretty much contained there also.
At the very least, the undeniable fact that what this young man's sign says is the truth should be the first defense. What can you expect when any public criticism of Islam is immediately suppressed both here and, to an even greater extent, in UK. While Islam does not fit most definitions of a cult (for one, there are many divisions in Islam -- you also have mainstreaming by numbers). Islam cannot be held to be a good thing by purely objective measures -- number of sanctioned killings, support for oppressive theocracies, opposition to science and the benefits to people it brings, etc. Islam has most effectively stifled free speech. Now Scientology??
