5 years and 2 months later, December, 21, 1988, Pan Am flight 103 brought down over Scotland by a bomb carried on board. Reagan administration.
5 years and 2 months later, February 26, 1993, First World Trade center Bombing. Clinton Administration.
7 months later, October 3, 1993. Dead U.S. peacekeeping soldiers dragged through the streets of Mogadishu Somalia.

2 years and 8 months later, June 25, 1996, Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia bombed. Clinton Administration.
2 years and 1 month later, August 7, 1998, U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania bombed. Clinton Administration.
2 years and 2 months later, October 12, 2000, U.S.S. Cole bombed. Clinton Administration.
11 months later, September 11, 2001, Both World Trade Center buildings destroyed and the Pentagon damaged by high jacked Airliners. George W. Bush Adminstration.
As of May 19, 2008, 6 years and 8 months have passed without a terrorist attack against the U.S. This is the longest we have been safe in nearly 29 years.
The current strategy of fighting the terrorists in the mountains of Afghanistan and the streets of Baghdad has so far been effective.
