Man alive nearly 179 hours after quake

YINGCHUAN, Sichuan, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Ma Yuan Jiang, a power plant executive, was rescued at around 00:50 a.m. Tuesday from the rubble in Wenchuan County of southwest China's Sichuan Province, nearly 179 hours after the May 12 earthquake.

The 31-year-old survivor was pulled by a Shanghai rescue team from the debris of a flattened power plant, after more than 30 hours' efforts.

Rescuers found Ma at afternoon on May 18 at the debris of a flattened office building, when they were digging hole trying to reach Yu Jinhua, a colleague of Ma.

Followed by an amputation operation, Yu was rescued at about 6:00 p.m. on May 18. Rescuers then turned to Ma and sent sweetened water to him through a straw.

Ma was receiving treatment at the temporary clinic of the Chongqing No. 3 Military Hospital, and will be sent by air to a hospital in Chengdu.

He was a power generation department vice director of the Yingxiu Bay Hydro-Power Plant.

I quoted your own words and left out useless content that serves as your self justifications.

Welcome to the brotherhood of ChiCom trolls on FR. You might be many (as you threatened some of us not long ago) but as long as there are freedom and liberty lovers on this forum, we’ll call you on the BS that supports genocidal and totalitarian regimes.

Get used to it. You won’t shut me down.

Here is a link I just saw which quoted many articles, youtube videos, pics, etc. to tell the chinese on that forum how to discuss the "Tibet" thing with foreigners.Which used many foreigner's view.

Are you willing to check every link and words in it? And will you agree it and believe it totally and become a Chicom after you read them?I don't think so.You will ignore it and says it's all lie.Just like I wont totally believe the "proof" your side posted. That's why I have no interest to have a such "discussion".I believe neither completely. It will never be a useful discussion if we use such "information","article","novel","story".It will be a waste of time. For the basis of discussion is not ensured.
And most important thing is even we figure out that some "truth" according with history. There are more to debate whether the "truth" is right or wrong, good or evil, especially in politics. That's not a 1+1 question but more complicated.I don't have time for that stupid things.
here

and more about chinese historical affairs you can read if you know mandarin

Well ,I think maybe for posting these link,I will be called Chicom troll things again.~~~What a "fair debate" we have here~~~

Have a nice day.I gotta go back to play my PSP.

Well it’s certainly fair debate when you decide for us what we will think before we think it. No? Very fair minded of you.

Actually zhanli said that in post #52 and I gave gogov a link to that in post #55. He ignored that. He also ignored a link to a post by Dasrafael, another Chinese FReeper, who says much the same about access to the net. gogov ignored the study done by the Berkman Center for Internet & Society Harvard Law School which found over 18,000 blocked sites in China. He ignored my link to sites beginning with the letter 'T' from that study that reveals numerous sites about Tibet that are blocked.

Actually, it is their one of their common ways to propagate in our native BBS. We call it 'Selective blind'. I feel so sorry about the deeds, and their shameful words. They think that they have defend our China's dignity. However they just do the opposite things. They are just protecting the CCP, which I think equals to Nazi.

In our native BBS(Tianya) I can see some of my folks says 'The one who against the goverment should be shoot.' So I am not surprised when I saw these trolls' words.

The slave who protect their master(CCP) will be a slave forever. Right?

Well, I may be called a traitor by them again (another way to propagate). Hah. Their logic is that everyone against the CCP or criticize China is a traitor. I have accustomed to it.

I guess you would have to be accustomed to it. It seems to be very common. You are right that the slave who defends the master will always be a slave. The propagandists like to point to American Indians and the reservations they still live on as an equal fault of America. But the majority of Am. Indians vote for Democrats, the liberals here who want to make America a communist country, so they defend the masters. So do black Americans. Polls say 90% of blacks will vote for Obama who is the most communist candidate in the Presidential race. They protect the master and stay separate and unequal by their own choice.

I am glad that you have ways to get around the filtering of the internet. There are always ways to get around the restrictions that tyrannical governments impose. It can be difficult, costly and even dangerous but those who are not satisfied to live in the confines of a world defined by someone else can find a way.

The internet is very exciting for everyone in the world for its information and connection to others not possible before. Governments all over the world want to control it because it threatens their hold on authority. Even our government wants to limit it. But it can only be limited as much as people let it. The internet is becoming more important to people than radio, TV, telephones or newspapers. It is taking the place of all of those things and more because the individual has control of it.

If a government tries to restrict it or cut it off great numbers of people will be angry and no government can survive that. They can only succeed with guns, soldiers and secret agents if the numbers of dissidents are small and everybody else is kept scared or minimally happy. They can't take the internet away without making huge numbers of people unhappy.

So authorities are stuck with a paradox. They must allow the internet but that means people will expose corruption and learn to govern themselves. The propagandists are like dinosaurs. Like children. They belong to a time when the government could control all of the media like in Nazi Germany. They just look foolish today in a world that is far different.

Stay safe, Bro. Stay free!

If a country is called genocidal because it sent gun to Vietnam, what should we call another country which sent troop there and killed 3 million civilians directly.
There is no such things called "good war". Do you really believe those civilians who would consider the high-tech bombs exploded beside their houses as personification of freedom even those bombs were dropped in the name of justice?
I want to repeat my opinion again, governments decide their actions or even make decisions using different sets of criteria or rules, learnt from previous experience. They are not always well defined and not perfect. There is an inescapable tension faced by all governments in reconciling their commitment to principles and the interests of the state. Why would we think our gov always right? Education gave us different version of history, media worked as governments' throat. So, explanation about your attitudes towards history is what an intelligent debate should contain. That's why I'm here – try to find something different from what our television program or newspaper said. It's meaningless to attack each other's country with words like genocidal or rabid.

I never thought our government made no mistake in history. But someone's description and conclusion on China would suggest a possible double standard. They tended to criticize our country with the worst word, but played ostrich when we mentioned the same problem in their country. The views of the non-America world were often ignored or inadequately considered.

They don’t see, as yet, to be rabid PLA/CCP cheerleaders like you or the mouthpiece who claimed that there is NO censorship in China.

I never claim there is no censorship in China. I know that some websites are in the black list of Chinese government. It's wrong and useless to block some specific websites. Just as now, I still could get information about Cambodia from your post in FreeRepublic.
BTW, do you ever hear PATRIOT Act? According to this act, FBI could search telephone, email and financial records without a court order. Would it be better than to be blocked?

hmm. I don't remember saying I wanted to debate you about anything. I do believe you want to debate. I already know all your answers though and you will never accept my arguments. So debate in this situation is useless. Any person who for 1 second defends the Chinese government for anything will not get a debate from me. You will get insults to your intelligence, doubts about your education and a general disrespectful attitude from me. I do not speak for others, only for myself. I did not ask you here but as long as you are not to bad the others will let you stay. I have lived in China for 4 years, I have a Chinese wife and a half Chinese son. I will say anything I want about the government and people of China and I will say it with personal observation and experience to back me up. I can site examples and evidence for everything I say. That is I could do this if I would choose to debate you. I will not. I also know the Chinese government has hired 1000s of English speaking Chinese to come to blogs like this and make the same arguments you are making. So I will assume you are one of these people and assume that you are indeed a brain washed ChiCom.

Thank god I finally left China. Getting way to dangerous for westerners there. Getting attacked just because you go shopping at the wrong store. China a country full of children led by the class bully.

This post has identified a problem that the old-timers on here seem to be missing and that the new people on here are of course not aware of. This is a forum for conservatives to exchange ideas and news.

This thread has been hijacked just the same as if a liberal were to start posting on here. FR does not allow people to come over from DU to post here and disrupt. For some reason they are allowing this disruption.

The thread title is, "Man alive nearly 179 hours after quake". It is not titled, "Every chance I get I will disrupt threads about China with my rants over how evil the place is no matter how unrelated my rants are to the subject at hand."

Ma Yuan Jiang, a power plant executive, was rescued at around 00:50 a.m. Tuesday from the rubble in Wenchuan County of southwest China's Sichuan Province, nearly 179 hours after the May 12 earthquake.

Near 8 days, buried, unable to move without food and water

The 31-year-old survivor was pulled by a Shanghai rescue team from the debris of a flattened power plant, after more than 30 hours' efforts.

It took 30 hours to figure out how to save him.

They had to amputate to free him, while he was awake, aware of what was taking place.

Ma was receiving treatment at the temporary clinic of the Chongqing No. 3 Military Hospital, and will be sent by air to a hospital in Chengdu.

He will recover but anyone that has been through trauma knows that it will be a long recovery.

On top of this incredible story, we have people on scene that are relating other incredible events, first hand reports to FR...

Aand there are people on here that want them to shut up, go away because in their phobia-striken delusional obsessions they are nothing more than ChiCom Commie shill morons who could not possibly be anything other than government agents because they have access to a computer - with an internet connection no less - and they have been sent to FR to infiltrate it and pollute the thinking of anyone that might have sympathy for the plight of someone trapped for 8 days and only able to get free by amputation while they are awake to experience it.

gogov, you don’t make any sense - as usual. You’re a self-admitted ChiCom propagandist and an exposed liar.

You are amusing at times - like an inadvertent clown - and that’s the only reason I continue to respond to your posts.

It was new FReepers who changed the subject and turned it into a political discussion. But as you say it is a political website. You’re the only one complaining about it.

ARE you a Conservative in the American sense of the word, or the ChiCom sense of the word?

Just curious...

After being caught with Mao's little red book in your locker you changed, I'll admit that. Not sure if you wanted that brought up on here. Sorry, I just don't think it is right for you to keep that a secret. You have changed so I personally don't think it should make any difference to anyone. It has, after all, been 20 years.

That could be a dangerous question to answer given the trouncing Pat Buchanan supporters were given around here a few years back. Are you sure it is safe to admit being a conservative? William F is no longer with us and we have just nominated McCain as the party stalwart.
