Texas sect parents complain of vague custody plans
Fort Worth Star-Telegram ^ | Mon, May. 19, 2008 | MICHELLE ROBERTS

Posted on 05/19/2008 5:15:16 PM PDT by Soliton

Donna Guion, an attorney for the mother of a 6-year-old son of the sect's jailed prophet, Warren Jeffs, complained the plans were so vague they would be impossible to satisfy and were contingent on psychological evaluations likely to take weeks more to complete.

"This plan is so vague and so broad that my client has no idea what she can do now," Guion said of the boy's mother.

Texas removed the children on accusations and assessments of a dangerous environment. Removing one’s children is so drastic an action that it ought to have an impartial review (I opt for juries of peers weighing criminal charges).

Is it not reasonable to ask for such a check on government power? Or is there one that can be exercised on an individual case basis - can parents legally contest a CPS decision through legal means, not through bureaucratic channels?

There is a difference between living here and being a Texan. There are Texans all over the country. Which are you?

Now what I'm saying is this - while I do NOT reccommend polygamy - why should monogamy be the only thing allowed. (I did the marriage thing, my wife cheated on me! The only good thing that came out of my marriage are my 2 boys!) Sorry, I'm not trying to argue with you, but I have to say that if a polygamist who is a CEO and not on the dole who moved next door to me - wouldn't upset me. (Matter of fact, I might have to give him a medal :-) ).

Now if there is WELFARE FRAUD, and I didn't hear that, that is wrong.

more conservative than you are.

Maybe, since I'm more LIBERTARIAN - I call myself a defense minded, secure the border LIBERTARIAN.

“This should read “the investigators allegedly learn”.

At the time, they had plenty of reason to believe it was true.

Reason “The girls being interviewed have seen her the past week at the ranch but don’t know where she is.”

“It is a known fact that some of the calls from “Sarah” came from a number used by the Colorado hoaxer.”

How many calls were there? If ‘some’ came from Rosita Swinton, who did the other calls come from?

Did you know that the CPS Investigators found a picture of SARAH, in the temple, locked in a safe?

“I didn’t see where in Texas that polygamy is ILLEGAL”

I’m sorry. It is.

Maybe that’s why you have such a problem with those who know the YFZ Ranch people have been violating the laws of the state of Texas ever since they moved there.

I’m not saying all FLDS are bad people. I am saying that Warren Jeff’s built a CULT, based on declaring himself PROPHET, declared the END OF THE WORLD would come on a certain date, took the cream of the crop of FLDS women and children with him, against the wishes of their parents in some cases, and moved to TEXAS, tried to deceive the state about the purposes of the LAND PURCHASE (The YFZ LAND) and refused to QUIT the practice of polygamy (illegal in TEXAS) and the practice of underage brides, even after TEXAS changed the law for consent to marriage from 14 to 16, which they did in response to Warren Jeffs moving his CULT in.

The YFZ Ranch is not a church, and the temple is the TEMPLE OF WARREN JEFFS.

You claim that CPS is wrong for tearing away children from their mothers.

JEFFS tore away children from their mothers, and took them with him to TEXAS. The CPS has found around 100 children at the YFZ Ranch whose REAL parents do not live at the ranch.

One such set of parents is working feverishly to appeal to TEXAS to return their child (they don’t live in TEXAS), because their child was taken (kidnapped, in legal terms) without their permission.

Do you agree with kidnapping, and interstate transportation of minors against parental consent?

I didn't hear that, so he should be CHARGED with KIDNAPPING!

NO, let me repeat it N-O!

There is a difference between living here and being a Texan. There are Texans all over the country. Which are you?

I quit being a Texan when Texas couldn't solve its most fundamental immigration, public education, and property tax problems. I had the choice to sink roots deeper or move to Oklahoma, where our families are from. That said, Texas is an interesting microsm of what happens to a conservative state when more and more people get used to the government largess. They look for and get offered small, vindictive victories while the great tide of more and more government intrusion rushes in.

Oklahoma is not much different, but somewhat different. At least it has passed some tough immigration reform lately. We'll see if the courts or the legislators erode it. It has and has always had a certain socialist streak.

I hope Texas holds on to Cornyn and can find a way to deal with the burden illegal immigration (winked at by the business community and its government stooges) is putting on the honest taxpayers.

If you want to distill what you think "the Texas spirit" means in a few sentences without getting insulting, you might prove a fine representative of it.

I do not think this CPS/FLDS case comments much on Texas spirit. It does touch on grey areas of government regulation and individual rights that interest Americans in most states (well, the ones that signed on to the bill of rights cuz they were rightfully scared of governments that might get too powerful).

The call that prompted the raid said that Barlow was the Dad. We know that isn’t true now too. Face it, Sarah doesn’t exist.

Many of these children were already “ripped” from their parents and moved around to other “families”. Much of the confusion in “what children from which parents” is not just the lies that FLDS told, but actual confusion on the part of the children. They simply do not know who their parents are. Like the Communists before them, they know that the strongest bond humans have, the one that MUST be broken for them to be truly loyal to the FLDS is the family bond.

Ok...I guess I was wrong! I only read what I was, so when it said ‘TRADITIONAL FAMILIES’ I thought it was. This is my last post on the SUBJECT.

Unfortunately, the situation ends up in the manner of choosing the lesser of two evils. You cannot properly investigate child abuse without removing the kids. The old days consisted of “seeing” the incident happen before charges. There is enough right now with the groups history (this is what they do) and the fact that there are under age girls having kids and refuse to name the father. This is no freedom of theirs when social services requires that the unwed mom on the dole give the name, description, location and any other information on the absent parent. Now you have to take the welfare cases and show the the unwed moms were benefitting from the millions received by so-called “work contracts”. It is obvious the women didn’t benefit from the money they received on the dole.

So, assuming it is true, then was CPS justified in taking all the children, until they could rightly ascertain WHO belonged to WHO?

Oklahoma is also a fine state. By your own words you weren't a Texan though...just someone that came here...didn't like the way things were done and left...A true Texas is an ambassador, no matter where he or she resides. We fight among ourselves "real good" but come together when we need to.

Don’t start. Anyone who excuses what was happening out there is an advocate for child rape and abuse/mind control of women and children. Don’t post something stupid back to me like “Where’s the proof?” There is plenty. You don’t even have to dig deep to find the info.

OK, TIME FOR APOLOGIES TO THOSE OF US WHO WERE CONCERNED ABOUT THE ABUSES OF POWER BY A TYRANNICAL GOVERNMENT AGENCY, AND CALLED SLAVERS AND RAPISTS FOR OUR CONCERN.

You really are pathetic. By your standard, it is OK for a child to be raped over and over until someone feels like doing something about it. Go back to your ACLU office and defender other sicko’s.

You and all the other Big Government fascists are the pathetic ones.

You've been pissing on the graves of my uncles and all those other hundreds of thousands brave soldiers who have given their very lives to defend what you are championing, Big Government tyranny.

Fascists, Marxists, all of you, pissing on the graves of our bravest.

My forefathers didn’t fight for the right to rape children and I doubt yours did either.

What are the names of the people who have been indicted for child rape since this raid took place?

One will do....

My forefathers fought and killed the kind of fascists and Marxists that have been found on these threads.

I thank God for every one they killed. I wish they had killed more.

You should be so ashamed of defendeing them that you would be afraid to show your face.
