Hmm, part of my first reply didn't post. Gizmag got their info from
Pink Tentacle.com Interesting stuff! As a comedian once said: "I'll buy it if they will promise me that this is the last thing they'll invent!" LOL. My wife and I bought a HD-tv recently with that in mind. Oh well!
To: Reaganesque
Sure make a large screen TV easier to sell to Mrs. MWT who doens’t want it junking up the den.

There’s actually technology being developed that would allow you to “paint” a tv on your wall. Seriously.

Ditto us and DVD player....now we're hearing all about Blu Ray making DVD obsolete. Humbug.

offers a resolution of 960 x 360
Thats GOT to be a mistake. You could individual triplets of LEDS for a higher resolution that that in a 10 foot long screen.

Just looking at the picture you can tell that the 960x360 must be wrong. That would be pixels that are about 1/3 inches square.
9600 x 3600 maybe.

“and weighs in at 3.6 kilograms (8 lbs), or about 10 times less than a conventional plasma display.”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
It is a bad day when a so called technical writer is hired to produce garbage like this. It is impossible for anything to weigh “10 times less” than something else.

Yeah, once you get over that ‘one times less’ mark, it gets pretty difficult.

I’m looking forward to OLEDs to be produced in large screens at an affordable price.

You have to wonder what you’re supposed to do with a display with a three to one aspect ratio. Either watch squashed people, a movie without the top or bottom quarter of the picture, or some re-a-l-l-y big black bars on the sides of the screen. Maybe you could divide the feed up and put a photo of your wall on each side...
To: Reaganesque
Now we'll be able to watch “2001 a Space Odyssey” in our homes as it was intended to be seen.

Imagine what this will do to the Event Hall Rental Business.
Imagine Disney Epcot esque 360 degree video on four walls.
(imagine a bride demanding a hall with video walls depicting the theme of her choice.)
This is going to be a tacky jumbotron in every major gathering.
