If the combustion chamber orifice geometry has a deleterious effect, which I’d guess it does, some more efficiency can be gained there.
Would also think that angling the top of the piston chamber towards the orifice might improve flow, if that were to help.
Good out of the box (cylinder) design.

O/O’s don’t buy a new rig when the engine needs rebuilding because unless the undercarriage is worn out that’s the cheapest long term course. So depending on how many miles per year you were putting on the truck, it could pay for itself to put a new engine in it.

I remember when gasoline was 12 and 14 cents. A 2 cewnt hike was sunstantial and we bitched about it then like we do now. LOL Oh those were the days.

The cheapest I remember was $0.19 during my teen years in Southern California and it was tough to scrape up a dollar for gas...Sometimes we even had to collect pop bottles.
BTW, a dollar for gas also got your windshield washed, your oil checked and your tire pressure checked if you wanted them to.
