Is there a Link Between Tibet and the China Earthquake Response?

So why else might the CCP be more willing this time to share information with its citizens and the world? One word says it all. Tibet. Does anyone remember Tibet? It is a province in South Western China that up until last Monday was basking in the world spotlight as Tibetans and their supporters attempted to portray what they view as ‘cultural genocide’ and ‘religious opression.’ No one that I know of is suggesting that the Chinese government somehow artifically created the earthquake to take the world’s attention off Tibet and human rights or that they are happy with event. Such an accusation would be ridiculous. However, there is little doubt that the tragic event in Sichuan has produced one positive aspect for the CCP; the world’s eyes, which were full of harshness and criticism just a few days ago, are now filled with compassion and understanding towards China.

Is Tibet the political motivation behind the Chinese Government's willingness to open up the media in the aftermath of the earthquake? This transparency seems to good to be true.

I think it is more about the Olympics than Tibet. Tibet is a an internal problem. The Olympics is for national pride. That is far more important to them.

Perhaps so, but does God share the same compassion for a heartless.....

I think that was my point in a roundabout away Dutch Boy. The Tibet issue has been the biggest ‘thorn in the side’ of the Chinese government as they prepare for the 2008 Games. By diverting attention from Tibet, the road to the Olympics now for China may be much easier.

There is an ancient concept in China. the Mandate of Heaven. Every Chinese knows about it. If the gods are displeased with the rulers on earth they withdraw the mandate. They give signs to the people to overthrow the government through natural disasters like—EARTHQUAKES!
Such disasters foreshadowed the death of Mao and lead to the overthrow of Mrs. Mao and the gang of Four. Maybe the gods are not pleased with the way the Chinese leader are handling Tibet? Or the Freedom of the people? If it is a sign from the Gods, according to tradition, more terrible things will happen until the people rise up.

As a chinese guy, I could not agree with you.and it’s ridiculous!

I DO not wanna involved in politics arguement.I just wanna say something about CCP in my opinion.

Most of Americans believe that “CCP is evil”.maybe.
Chinese people have no freedom, yeah, that’s ture.there is no real election in China mainland.People have no choice.
On the contrary, people in U.S could make their dicision by election between Democratic party and Republic party.
We have no choice, because there is only one political Party CCP in China.

For history experiences, turning over a bad government, and setting up a new government needs violence revolutions. But we have to know one important thing is that the people under government could not endure anymore. But nowdays, most of chinese people believe the future is bright and satisfied with their lives.may be someone says that’s because the brainwashing from CCP. Such as GFW......I admit it, but actually we could connected to all the website in the would if you have a little knowledge of proxy.BTW, FR is not filtered by GFW.

China is not the RED china anymore, and not Mao dynastey.it’s much more better.I was born in 1982, and now I’m 26, I’m not going to tell you CCP is great or bastard, I just wanna tell you, all of you, CCP is not RED CCP, because I can blame the government in public and express our emotion like you all, Uncle Sam

What a lie!
I figure you never critisize Chinese government before.Go, try to do it once or more, let’s see what will happen to you.

O,they may pay you a visit, and arrest you in front of your family, leaving no reasons no further details and your families will be living in fear. That what they do to Hujia and Guoquan.

Wait, they may think you not worth it, and have no interest in detaining you. So they just take away your harddisk or the whole computer, and tell you never do it again or next time wont be so easy.Be ware, you better not ask for a receipt, because that is very stupid.

Most likely, they wont give you a shit.Because your article will be deleted in the first minute after you post it by one of the millions net cops and censors. Nobody will see it except the censor and you. So they even won’t bother it.

Tell it to the students who were killed and imprisoned in the Freedom Movement. What was the estimated death toll? 3,000?
Remember the students in the square? The ones who put a plaster lady of freedom only to see their dreams crushed under the treads of tanks. No, China is still red.

As a chinese, I object.
The goverment, or we can say the CCP, gives us little human rights. Dennischow, to be honest, dare you public your opposed opinion in public? You dare not, of course. The CCP will warn you or arrest you.And even worse, you may “disappear” secretly.
The CCP shuts down our mouth by controlling the media. And they control our thoughts by the education. They teach us that to love our contry is to love CCP. And the words “Chinese people is the one who agress with CCP’s rule, otherwise they are our enemy” can easiliy found in the Politics Lesson, which is a compulsory subject in middle school, senior school, and university.
However, we can do nothing, for the army is not fight for the people but the CCP.
So I just pray God will save us someday.
