Bush Faults Democrats for Gas Prices
The Washington Times ^ | May 18, 2008 | Sean Lengell

Posted on 05/18/2008 6:47:52 AM PDT by kellynla

President Bush yesterday characterized Capitol Hill Democrats as hypocrites for demanding that Saudi Arabia pump more oil while blocking attempts to increase domestic drilling in such places as Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico.

Saudi Arabia announced on Friday that it would meet Mr. Bush's request to increase oil production, though the jump of 300,000 barrels per day was less than the president had wanted.

But rather than criticize the Saudis, Mr. Bush — after a round of meetings with Middle East leaders at the Egyptian resort of Sharm el Sheik — instead heaped blame on congressional Democrats for skyrocketing gasoline prices.

"Those who are screaming the loudest for increased production from Saudi Arabia are the very same people who are fighting the fiercest against domestic exploration, against the development of nuclear power and against expanding refining capacity," said Mr. Bush yesterday after talks with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

This is no longer the conservative grassroots forum as it began,

As one who was here in the beginning, (under a different screen name ) you are correct, it is no longer a grassroots effort, but it is still conservative site that has matured into something entirely different, this site has always had trolls during the election cycles.

but a political tool used to BASH BUSH, the administration

Hate to break the bad news to you, but Bush has given PLENTY of reason to be BASHED by conservatives.

and make sure all who can be kept from voting this year to get democrats in, will be kept away from polls through disgust or vote a candidate who cannot win against dems....

Maybe if we had a conservative candidate to vote for instead of McCain, we conservatives might be more inclined to be more active

Instead of responding in under a minute with a knee jerk response based on nothing but your own emotion based dogmas read the documents at the 5 links I sent you and actually finally learn something about this issue.

YOu know, that is a great idea!!!

There is no need to send elected representitives to Washington DC to speak for the people when we all have the ability to text or email our personal vote on national business.

Back in the time when there was nothing but pony express mail and news travelled like molasses, having representitives in DC was necessary because the people weren’t easily accessed for opinion or guidance.

Electing people to congress is a waste of money in the electronic age.

In addition to what you said, a bill to drill in ANWR passed the House and Senate in 95 or 96 only to have Clinton Veto it.

do research on the limited powers of the President, The Executive Branch of government.
Look up the powers of The Legislative Branch (Congress), and The Judicial Branch...and remember that Pelosi, as Speaker of the House would be President if the President, and VP both died or were unable to serve. She is third in line, and that is scary.
Then come back and tell me how much you blame Bush for all that has happened.

Thank you. I’m not a native and don’t know your system as well.
It’s just frustrating as a conservative to hear an ongoing blame game, because I believe that it is the job of liberals to be trying to assign blame all the time.

Politicians are always fence riding for the most potential votes. They say they are doing something, then in the middle of the night vote against it. The average American only hears the talk. But fails to follow thorugh the process and discover why these things never get momentum.

The only conviction politicians have is that of getting re-elected. They don't call it Potomac Fever for nothing.

Bush hops on Air Force One to visit the King of the UAR to beg for more oil. The King basically tells Bush to get lost. So, except for a friendly visit in Israel on the way to the UAR, Bush did little more than burn off a lot of precious fuel. Then, after returning, Bush whines about the Democrats blocking the development of domestic oil resources, which is basically true. Bush, who during his present term is hated by a large majority of Americans, including those like myself that voted for him, fails to take the next logical step.
Even though 75% of Americans don’t take Bush seriously, the cost of gasoline is a bipartisan issue in the face of every American that owns a car or goes to the market. Democrats and Republicans alike pay $4/gal for gasoline, and almost a dollar more per gallon for diesel fuel, and we all pay more for food.
So, courtesy of the Democrats and RINO’s Bush now has an issue of concern to virtually every American, and nothing to loose if he rides in as a knight in shining armor with a solution. Instead of whining about the Democrats, Bush can and should take a viable proposal for drilling directly to the people to put pressure on a malfeasant Congress to do something. Conservation, and alternate energy are good things and should be pursued, but for now, oil moves our cars and trucks. Just a positive move toward real energy independence would likly bring down world oil prices. Bush needs a no holds barred attack on those that have created this mess, using facts, and naming names. If he angers the Democrats and sends them over the edge, then he will be doing the right thing. Perhaps Bush, in his legacy, can be remembered as the president that changed our 30 year non-energy policy to a real energy policy. He won’t accomplish this by playing nice with the Democrats. This will only happen if he has the balls to take them on in a down and dirty street fight, so to speak.

Sorry, clinging to your preprogrammed responses instead of bothering to read the data is not an acceptable response. GO READ the data this time. Waiting 3 minutes longer before responding does not fool anyone. Pretty obvious you are not even reading the facts just responding with pre programed statements.

GO READ THE DATA. What are you so afraid of? Afraid the facts might refute your dogma?
