What was it they called Reagan, the Great Communicator? I was in my youth at the time Reagan came into office and thought, oh boy an actor in the White House. How low can we go? At the end of his second term, I wanted to make him President for life. When he died, I cried for a solid hour watching his funeral procession.

Now my father, who likes to call himself a moderate, (he’s a lib), follows the theme: Reagan nearly destroyed this country. Standard lib thought brought to you buy the mainstream media.

When push comes to shove, I’ll vote McCain, and he knows it. He knows it because he knows that Conservatives won’t go for a total Marxist like Obama. So he doesn’t have to woo us or win our votes. Its a resurgance of the Blue Blood Country Club and their mini fiefdoms on the Hill. And that’s politics.

I realize I’ve rambled. Feels kind of good. :) Hey I got one of those Republican survey letters, you know the kind, beg letter disguised as a questionaire. Yeah, I sent it to John Ensign along with a letter as to why they would have to win without my money. I’m putting my hard earned dollars at the grass root level and am on the lookout for a Conservative Candidate I can support for Congress. My rep presently is Andre Carson. (I can barely type the name for want of pain killers.). He’s an Ultra lib...

Yes, I can’t believe that I twice voted against Ronald Magnus. (The silliness of youth, they were the first 2 elections I was old enough to vote in.) Getting high quality—conservative but not whacko—candidates at the congressional level seems to be the hardest thing in the states I’ve lived in.

The good ones seem either to rise up within politics fairly young—or transfer over from business. I hate seeing the senate get more and more plutocratic, but I think it may be necessary for the party to actively woo successful venture capital and high-tech entrepreneurs. They are often looking for another field to conquer (that will confirm for them that their financial success wasn’t a fluke), and if they were made to feel wanted enough I think more of them would take the plunge.

Anyway, good for you for paying attention at the congressional level!

Yes, they have felt “out in the cold” for a long time. They are as disdainful of the conservative coalition as people like Chris Matthews are. But the blue bloods are the crowd we have to hang out with for the near future.

I got two of those letters, one for Mr. A. I did them both as I knew he would never get around to it.

I gave a few suggestions, but basically he was touting stuff I agree with: lower taxes, less govt spending, judges who wouldn’t push an agenda, no earmarks, national security.

I gave him a little advice on anwar and illegal immigrants.

He’s only 20 to 30% bad and the other two are 100% bad. I don’t like him but I will vote for him with enthusiasm.

I do not agree that enduring 4 years of Obama would be ‘good for the country.’ We are still paying for the harm that Carter did in 4 years.

We are still paying for the harm that Clinton did to the moral fibre of the country and causing the war basically by ignoring the Islamic threat so thoroughly that they felt emboldened to act.

I don’t want to pay the price for 4 years of hillary/obama. It would be higher than you can imagine.
