I have now heard it all. Why don’t the parents sue themselves for letting the child play baseball? After all, if it weren’t for them letting him on the field, he wouldn’t be disabled now. They are just as much to blame as the bat maker, Little League, and the sporting goods store...at least according to their logic.

The parents should sue themselves for not purchasing a $25 "Heartstop" that is worn under the jersey. It's a shirt with a hard plastic liner that covers the chest area and provides invaluable protection from this exact type of injury.
I would never, ever allow a child to play infield without one of these.

It has been acknowledged for a long time that balls hit with metal bats fly at speeds much higher than those hit with wood. Parents using due diligence should check first to find out if the Little League uses them, and then decide if they want to subject their children to the added risk.
