Washington State. Our State Supreme court in July, 2006, handed down a ruling that upheld Washington State's Defense of Marriage Act of 1998. That does not mean that the DemonRATs are not trying to push such legislation through. In April, 2007 Governor Christine Gregoire signed into law a domestic partnership bill for those living with at least one of the partners over 62 years of age. They are doing it by incrementalism.
