As a Merchant Marine I've said it before & I'll say it again, “Anyone who would go to sea for pleasure, would go to hell for a picnic”. The sea can be a nice place, but it gives no quarter.
I've been on cruise ships, folks should remember that the minute they step on one, they leave the sovereign territory of the USA- most cruise ships are foreign flagged. A free piece of advice if you want to avoid the stomach bugs that run rampant when you crowd 5K souls together, stay away from the buffet, eat in the dining room while aboard.
