HONOLULU -- The Marine Corps has yet to charge anyone after two months of investigating a video that reportedly depicts a Marine from Monroe throwing a puppy into a ravine in Iraq. A press release today from Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Oahu states that the investigation is ongoing and that the Corps deplores the apparent act of animal cruelty. The investigation may be concluded soon, according to Maj. Chris Perrine, base spokesman. The puppy video gained international attention and local interest when people on the Internet identified the Marine in the video as a Monroe man. The mans family became a focus for Internet vigilantes who harassed the parents and their places of business with e-mails and phone calls, forcing them to discontinue phone service. The man in the video has not yet been officially named by the Marine Corps.

Whether this guy is guilty or not he needs to have his ass kicked for bringing dishonor to all servicemen and women. So much hay has been made over this.
It is amazing that they are dragging this out for months.
A couple of identified marines in uniform that use each others names and video a two minute event that involves a dog, how complicated can the “investigation” be?
'The criminal investigation division at the Kane'ohe Bay base is investigating the case, Perrine said.
"They are talking to numerous people in the chain of command some are out of the Marine Corps, and some are at other duty stations," Perrine said.'
“You must not have much experience dealing with NCIS.

Sounds like a lot of time and investigation for what appeared to be a pretty simple event, and I have seen a little of how the CID does things.
By the way when I said that it was taking a long time, I didn’t mean that in an accusatory internet way, I only meant it as someone that is curious about this oddball story that became such a massive international scandal.
I am impatient to find out what really happened and to watch the next wave of discussion on it.
10 weeks ago we knew who the guy was (even his picture), where he was stationed, his and his sisters, and maybe the families mypages, their home address and phone numbers, everything.
Here is a link to a March 3, web page, and a link to an FR discussion.

Ya, I will post updates if I get them. Been a weird few months.
I always figured it was a fake. Or at least that the dog was fake and the whole thing was just a gag video.
I guess we'll find out soon. Thanks for the ping.
Thanks for the update.
“First Lt. Binford Strickland, a Marine Corps Base Hawaii spokesman, said the service may not reveal what roles the two men played in the video because that was part of the investigation. He said releasing such information would violate the Privacy Act.
Strickland declined to provide details about the disciplinary measures taken against the men for the same reason.”
