Why hasn't there been a second Contract With America? It worked in 94. It would probably work again. It's so simple. Maybe it could make a pledge to drill for oil in the US and Gulf and build more refineries, eliminate earmarks, secure the border, go after gangs that terrorize our cities, etc.

This one makes a good point. The Rs have gone so far left, they don't even remember what the Contract was about.

I really liked the email that contained the phrase “tighten the belt or lose the pants.”

Ain’t it the truth.

It’simpler than that, the Repubs in Congress should coalesce around 4 simple principles:

1) Secure our borders
2) Make Bush’s tax cuts permanent, eliminate earmarks and other wasteful spending, and balance the budget
3) Win the war on terror (Iraq, Afghanistan et. al.
4) Fix health care through free market based initiatives

Positive, simple, to the point and achievable. If we run a campaign based on simply bashing Obama and Pelosi we lose. We must have a plan that is easily understood, not to broad and complex and ready to be implemented on day 1. My one cent.
