Peculiar deception rattles small town (Fake DEA Agent)
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH ^ | 05/15/2008 | Todd C. Frankel

Posted on 05/16/2008 8:23:23 PM PDT by Copernicus

Investigators were still trying to sort fact from fiction in the story of the fake DEA agent. They know this much, or think they do: He is a 36-year-old man from Washington, Mo. He is married. He never was a federal agent. He was arrested and released Monday. No charges had been filed, so the Post-Dispatch is not using his name. The Franklin County Sheriff's Department, Missouri Highway Patrol and FBI are investigating.

The fake agent seemed to know the ins and outs of law enforcement, according to investigators and those who worked with him.

some people choose to become pretenders (liars) in order to gain respect from society. Pathetic existence.

The funny thing is that if he had merely walked into the town police station and said he wanted to be a “volunteer”...they would have accepted him warmly. And in a year or two....he would have been “qualified” and able to conduct arrests. Most police units throughout the US are short-manned and always appreciate a volunteer.

Its interesting that he never took a penny from the town. And you have to wonder how he worked to pay bills.

Yeah. From the article:

He was arrested and released Monday. No charges had been filed, so the Post-Dispatch is not using his name.

WTH!? Since when have papers stopped printing the names of those arrested? Something rotten is afoot, IMO.
