Very well put. What we're seeing is the demise of a political party. Just as the Whigs began to fade when they abandoned core principles, so now are the Republicans.

If McCain gets the nomination and by miracle he happens to win the White House, then the GOP will keep on pushing left wing candidates who are willing to sell out this country. I cannot imagine a more horrible GOP candidate than McCain. I will never vote for anyone who is for amnesty and/or open borders. The consequences of those policies are obvious.
