"Obama is right about this, this was a Bush F*up."

Elaborate.

Bush’s forced elections (against Israel’s will and against Fath’s will) brought Hamas to power and this has turned the Gaza Strip into a complete terrorist hell-hole and Iranian base of operations.

It was a total F*-up.

LTEP is correct. As an armed group, Hamas should not have been allowed to participate in elections. Per Oslo the parties were to agree to the nature of elections. Israel was opposed to Hamas participation, Abbas was largely quiet on the issue-about all he could do, but the US insisted they participate, foolishly stating that those running were peaceful businessmen, not terrorists. GWB made a mistake. As we did tolerating Hizbollah in the Lebanese elections, though we had less leverage there, and allowing an armed al Sadr to participate in the political process in Iraq.

Of course Obama would embrace Hamas, his pastor says they have a new worthwhile plan for the region. So Obama would be worse.

A Pro-Hamas Foreign Policy?-Why is Washington urging terrorists to run for elective office?

Secretary Rice on CNN: US will respect elections if Hamas wins

White House: OK if Hamas controls PLC- "business professionals...not terrorists"

White House: Hamas members elected in PA not terrorists
