To: Sub-Driver

President Bush said this in his speech: “We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: “Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided.”

It was a Republican who said that—why would President Bush use that example? It just seems like it gives Democrats something else to jump on, that he’s quoting someone from his own party to illustrate a negative point about the opposition.

Appeasement is appeasement no matter which party. Actually by quoting an appeasement Republican from the past makes the Dems fake protests even more illegitimate.
