I will ask Democrats to serve in my administration.

I will ask Congress to grant me the privilege of coming before both houses to take questions, and address criticism, much the same as the Prime Minister of Great Britain appears regularly before the House of Commons.

“There is no longer any place in the world al Qaeda can consider a safe haven.”

Well, except Pakistan.

The size of the Army and Marine Corps has been significantly increased, and are now better equipped and trained to defend us. Long overdue reforms to the way we acquire weapons programs, including fixed price contracts, have created sufficient savings to pay for a larger military. A substantial increase in veterans educational benefits and improvements in their health care has aided recruitment and retention.

The strain on the National Guard and reserve forces has been relieved.

What is this guy smoking?

The United States has experienced several years of robust economic growth, and Americans again have confidence in their economic future.

Really? On what planet?

“Illegal immigrants who broke our laws after they came here have been arrested and deported. Illegal immigration has been finally brought under control, and the American people accepted the practical necessity to institute a temporary worker program and deal humanely with the millions of immigrants who have been in this country illegally.”

WTF? Is he drunk or just stupid ( I know I am being rhetorical ). The American people let it be known on their last attempt at amnesty that we did not want it.

McCain is just as big a liar as Hussein and Hillary. Thank you RINO’s and independents. You have nominated a Democrat to run as a conservative thus giving this country no choice but to elect a socialist ir an idiot.

He’s saying this as if it were a few years into his Presidency.

From the speech:

So, what I want to do today is take a little time to describe what I would hope to have achieved at the end of my first term as President. I cannot guarantee I will have achieved these things. I am presumptuous enough to think I would be a good President, but not so much that I believe I can govern by command. Should I forget that, Congress will, of course, hasten to remind me. The following are conditions I intend to achieve.

“Illegal immigrants who broke our laws *after* they came here have been arrested and deported.”

If they hadn’t broken our laws by coming here, you wouldn’t have to use the adjective “illegal”, Juan.

“...Older workers who accept lower paying jobs while they acquire new skills are provided assistance to make up a good part of the income they have lost. Community colleges and technical schools all over the country have developed worker retraining programs suited to the specific economic opportunities available in their communities and are helping millions of workers who have lost a job that won’t come back find a new one that won’t go away....”

That will go along way for McCain, the rest of the Republican Party should take notice, the bitterness that Globalism has caused far surpasses the Iraq War sentiments.

He is saying that these things will happen by 2013 if he is President, not that they have happened already.

I watched a few minutes. The part about childhood obesity was hard enough to take, but I had to shut it off when he declared the borders secure. Good God, this man is deluded. Is there anyone here who can possibly feel good about voting for him?

Anyone, anyone?

Hey, come on folks, what do you want the guy to say?

We need someone to actually tell us what they are going to do, and not just offer “hope” “change” “fairness” that we all know are buzz words for true marxist-leninist rule.

No, I don’t agree with McCain on many issues. I think his acceptance of cap & trade & global warming is nuts at best. After his global warming speech I didn’t think I’d vote for him. But after having swallowed a few more rationalizations....

There’s a lot here I agree with in terms of a general direction for our country. Heck, I might be persuaded to vote for him just for his position on health care.

So let’s be real. Maybe he’s sincere and maybe he’s not. With the alternative, we KNOW what we’d get.

Read first, then comment. He is talking about the future, after his first term.

You are aware that he was talking about how he envisions the year 2013, after his first term?

I don't know about what other FReepers think, but this sounds pretty good to me, in the main.

Contrast it with the gross statism and socialism of the other two.

McCain will make a great POTUS.
