Six names to be added to wall at Veterans Memorial Park in Rubidoux
RUBIDOUX - Six veterans with ties to the Jurupa area, including the father of former presidential candidate Rep. Duncan Hunter, will be honored this Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park.
Robert O. Hunter, Kenneth S. Norton, Ulysses K. Garrett, Frank Medaris, Callis Herbert and Wilson P. Lauritzen, all deceased, will have their names placed on the Veterans Memorial Wall during a pre-Memorial Day ceremony at the park.
All of the men, except for Garrett, were World War II veterans. Garrett served in the U.S. Navy from 1936 to 1940.
Hunter, who served as an artillery officer with the U.S. Marines in the Philippines, was a Jurupa-area builder and Republican political activist.
Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-El Cajon, called his father “the greatest man I ever met.”
“He had an unflagging sense of patriotism,” Hunter said.

“We need more like him and Tancredo in Washington.”
well, they’re both in D.C., it’s that their offices are minor compared to where they could be...
I don’t know anything about CO politics but I do know that Boxer needs to be “knocked out” of the Senate! LOL
In fact, if we are ever going to turn the mess around; we need a lot of true blue conservatives like them running for local, state and federal offices including the governorships which would give us a better field to choose from for POTUS.
No, he didn't. One caller suggested that Duncan Hunter was sure to be on McCain's short list of veep candidates. Duncan with a wry smile said, "I doubt it".
I'm sure as a Republican, Hunter will vote for McCain but I've always had the feeling that Hunter is not enamored with McCain.
>...did Hunter endorse McCain?...<
I don’t know because I tuned in after Rep. Hunter had his say. Anyone else know?
I think he had some good comments about that when on the show.
The Cong. and I might differ over John McCain, but that's OK. Hunter is not a chronic complainer about things (as I can tend to be!), even to the extent of himself being screwed out of the GOP nomination by being screwed out some of the most critical debates and news coverage...Duncan Hunter still gets my support for any future office he runs for in our Land.
I missed Duncan Hunter, but sometimes C-Span has replays.

What was the topic?
That is so scary.
When he was asked about the possibility of a VP, he snorted and sad, “I don’t think so!”
Obviously not, since him and McCain are polar opposites on just about everything.
I’m sure Juan wouldn’t ask him because of that and I doubt that Hunter would be able to tolerate working as Juan’s subordinate for 4 long tortuous years. LOL!
