“War on Terror”

What are our politicians doing about the Muslims who live here who do not commit terror but push for Shariah?

Oh, they give speeches at their confabs, begging for their support.

The Latest Polls continue to show that Barr is thinking along the same lines as nearly 7 in 10 Americans who disapprove of this Iraq adventure. Better find another avenue to of attack against him. The "War" is extremely unpopular among the vast majority of voters.

And the Patriot Act is an abomination to our Constitution.

The reign of the neo conservative is near an end. The American people reject the neocon philosophy of perpetual war and nation building adventures.

Conservatives used to be in the forefront of opposition to such adventures. I think most still are.

Bob Barr is an alternative to the crappy leftists being offered to us by both major parties. He may be the only reason I vote at all in this election.

There is no authentic conservative tradition of turning against one’s country in a time of war. Patriotism and the desire to see one’s country secure, strong and in charge of its own destiny are core conservative values.

Pith and truth.

The Latest Polls continue to show

Indeed. Why even have a constitutional republic at all?

Just take a poll every morning at 9 a.m. to determine national policies.

And the Patriot Act is an abomination to our Constitution.

A commonly repeated leftist trope which is never, ever substantiated.

This is just Operation Chaos in reverse. We giggle when Ralph Nader and Dennis Kucinich peel off votes from the left flank of the Democrats. We encourage Cindy Sheehan to bedevil the flank of Nancy Pelosi.

Now Barr, who I respect, will suck votes from McCain who I could care less about. Still there is no way McCain can win if his right flank deflects. So a POX on Barr and his grandstanding.

Then it won't be close, the "true conservative" will win in a landslide, get our troops out of Iraq and repeal the Patriot Act.

Go Barak, Go!

Bob Barr is an alternative to the crappy leftists being offered to us by both major parties. He may be the only reason I vote at all in this election.

I hate to break it to you, but on the issues important to KDD, an immediate end to the war and an end to government "abuses" in the WOT, Barr is the left, a resident of Cindy Sheehanland.

Just take a poll every morning at 9 a.m. to determine national policies.

The only poll that matters is the one held in November. These other polls are just indicators.

I hope your approval of the PA extends to having an Obama as President posessing such enhanced executive powers. At this point such appears likely.

And I guess you would consider KeepAndBearArms.com to also be a resident of Sheehanland?

The R-party is close to being ripe for a flip by the D-party. Other than the lunatic fringe party hacks (KosKids and DUmmies), it appears that many Democratcheks could easily do what many of us are thinking of doing in November...hold our nose and vote for McCain.

Incremental change: the liberals number 1 weapon.

The only poll that matters is the one held in November.

Of course, the November election does not turn on a single issue, but on a whole host of issues, platform positions and assessemnts of personal character.

It is not really a policy referendum.

I hope your approval of the PA extends to having an Obama as President posessing such enhanced executive powers.

Again, it has yet to be explained exactly how the PATRIOT Act "enhances" the power of the executive - let alone enhances it "unconstitutionally" as has been claimed ad nauseam.

Well stated.

The war in Iraq has was started under the right pretext, that establishing democratic institutions in the Middle East is the best way, over the long run, to reduce the threat. Additionally, it has served as a magnet for radical Islamists and terrorists, thus keeping them “over there” and not over here!

The reason the war is unpopular here is the steady drumbeat of surrender and bad news from the media and the Democrats who wants us to lose. Without that, the country would be united behind the effort.

As for the Patriot act - you said it all. Overblown claims of loss of freedoms without ONE concrete example. The act is a reasonable tool for fighting terrorism here at home, and it seems to have worked very well without undermining our freedoms!

As for the Patriot act - you said it all. Overblown claims of loss of freedoms without ONE concrete example.

The essential changes made by the USA PATRIOT Act were: (1) the reorganization of a host of different alphabet agencies that were already under control of the federal executive; (2) an updating and uniformization of FISA and ECPA to deal with current realities of communications media (having been passed in 1978 and 1986 respectively, there was no concrete legal standard under FISA and ECPA for dealing with voicemail, email, instant messaging, IP telephony, etc.) and (3) modernization of rules of surveillance of foreign nationals.

Unless one wants to argue that the executive has no constitutional authority to reorganize the executive department - even when he is doing it under Congressional auspices, unless one wants to argue that the executive has no constitutional authority to request warrants for voicemail and email in the same way it can request warrants for snail mail and PBX calls, or unless one wants to argue that the executive has no constitutional authority to conduct surveillance on aliens living in the US, then there is no constitutional argument whatever.
