In general, I'm not a real big fan of Freudian explanations for adult behavior - I'd like to believe that with freedom of the will, we are all capable of overcoming our childhood traumas, but, at the same time, I am well aware that it is exceedingly unlikely that the acorn will ever fall very far from the tree.
And I think that le Carré's Magnus Pym is probably about as close to an authentic psychological profile of Barack Hussein Obama Jr as anyone is going to be able to produce [and remember, le Carré, i.e. Cornwell, is telling that semi-autobiographical story from a sympathetic perspective].
So what do we know about Obama Jr's childhood?
We know that his mother's family left their Methodist & Baptist upbringings [in Kansas] and joined a Unitarian church on Mercer Island, Washington, which was known as "the little Red church on the hill". SOURCE
We know that the Mercer Island school system was riddled with Communists, and that Stanley Ann Dunham was influenced by Communist teachers in high school. SOURCE, SOURCE
We know that Stanley Ann Dunham and Barack Hussein Obama Sr met in a Russian class at the University of Hawaii. SOURCE
We know that Barack Hussein Obama Sr was a polygamist, and that any possible marriage he might have entered into with Stanley Ann Dunham was illegal [although there is some question as to whether Dunham & Obama Sr were ever formally married]. SOURCE
We know that Barack Hussein Obama Sr developed severe alcoholism, and died from it [drunk, in a car wreck], and passed on the gene for alcoholism to several of his sons [one of whom died, drunk, in a motorcycle crash]. We know that Stanley Ann Dunham became so obsessed with the study of primitive cultures that she abandoned her own son, and sent him back to Hawaii to live with her parents, and that she spent upwards of a decade or more producing a 1067 page PhD dissertation on primitive culures at the University of Hawaii, and that she preferred living amongst primitive peoples to living amongst her own people [to the extent that, as above, her obsession with primitive life tore apart her own family and sent her son halfway around the world away from her]. Look, this is not a normal childhood - this is a cruel, bizarre, perverted, amoral, almost psychopathic upbringing to which Obama Jr was subjected.
And while I know that people can overcome these kinds of childhoods - consider e.g. the case of David Horowitz, who was raised as a Red Diaper Baby - the chance of this happening - the likelihood that a man can summon the strength of character to overcome such an upbringing - is just about infinitesimally small.
And what do we see in the adult son of Stanley Ann Dunham and Barack Hussein Obama Sr?
We see Obama Jr, the president of Harvard Law Review, eschewing any sort of traditional employment in the legal profession [either as a federal judge's clerk, or as a member of any nationally renowned law firm], and instead returning to Chicago to join a tiny, obscure, unknown law firm, "Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland", with bizarre legal specialites, like "Civil Rights/Voting Rights", "Farmworker Litigation", and "Real Estate/Housing Development/Non-Profits" - a firm whose sole purpose for existence appears to have been the funneling of literally tens of millions of dollars in government grants to crooks and race hustlers and poverty pimps, like Tony Rezko. We see Obama Jr maintaining a 20+ year friendship with his professor from Columbia, Edward Said*. SOURCE, SOURCE
We see Obama Jr entering into [possibly as much as] a 20+** year friendship with the Bolshevik terrorists, William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, who together launched Obama's career in Chicago politics. SOURCE, SOURCE, SOURCE, SOURCE, SOURCE, SOURCE, SOURCE, SOURCE, SOURCE, SOURCE
We see Obama Jr seeking out the former Muslim, and now Black Liberation Theologian, Jeremiah Wright, as his spirtual mentor***. SOURCE
And we see Obama Jr, less than two years ago, travelling to Kenya to meet with Raila Amolo Odinga [who claims to be Obama Jr's cousin, and who was educated in Communist East Germany in the 1960's, and who is, of course, the son of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Obama Sr's erstwhile Communist ally in the 1960's], and we see Obama Jr campaigning with Raila Amolo Odinga so aggressively that the Kenyan government filed a complaint with the US State Department about Obama Jr's interference in internal Kenyan affairs. Furthermore, we see Raila Amolo Odinga entering into an agreement with Sheikh Abdullahi Abdi and the National Muslim Leaders Forum [NAMLEF] to institute Sharia law in Kenya, and, after the elections in December, we see Raila Amolo Odinga institute a campaign of violence in Kenya which leaves 600 dead and 250,000 homeless, and, finally, we know that Obama Jr was in [at least] telephone contact with Raila Amolo Odinga about this campaign of violence.

So all of the evidence we have is that Obama Jr swallowed - hook, line, and sinker - the propaganda which he was fed by his mother & his biological father [& his stepfather, for that matter, not to mention his maternal grandfather & his "Uncle" Frank], and that Obama Jr has grown up to be precisely the man that they all wanted him to be.
And again - this is not normal. This is not usual. This is not ordinary.
Barack Hussein Obama Jr has lived a life which is so far out of line with the experiences of most Americans that we barely even have a vocabulary capable of describing just how bizarre the guy is.
*PS: If anyone is curious, Edward Said and William Ayers intersect in one Rashid Khalidi, the Edward Said Professor of Arab Studies and Director of the Middle East Institute at Columbia University. In 2001, the Woods Fund gave $40,000 to Mona Khalidi's Arab American Action Network [or AAAN], and in 2002 they gave another $35,000; of course, this was during the time that Obama Jr and William Ayers served together on the board of the Woods Fund.
