Readers of this column will recall that from time to time in covering an election cycle I have referred to a voting bloc that political analysts of more delicate sensibilities would rather not mention, to wit, the moron vote. It is a constituency composed of politically ignorant citizens who nonetheless feel very intensely about political issues once their respective demagogues have notified them of the issues, suitably transmogrified...

Seems to me they’re turning ‘morons into voters’...
Thanks to our stellar public schools systems, just about everyone is a moron voter.
They are electing morons as well. I distinctly remember McCain saying something to the effect that he is not so good at economics and Hillary has referred to the workings of the Federal Reserve as something like magic.
Americans have dug themselves the hole they are in.
Yup. Personally, I think Heinlein had it right in his ‘Starship Troopers’ book.
IE - if you want to vote or run for office, you’ve got to have served in the military. Or in other words, you’ve got to actually care enough about our nation that you’d be willing to die, if needed, to protect it.
That way, anyone as apathetic as the ‘moron’ vote wouldn’t be able to vote... as if they’re that apathetic about politics, they wouldn’t care enough to do what would be necessary to get the right to vote.
Voters are not being turned into morons: they are already moronic and uninformed too.
Most of the morons are college educated, some are extremely intelligent... As a matter of fact, it’s really not a matter of intelligence, but morality (or short of that, of common sense).
Let us never ever forget that the great geniuses who award the geniuses, the Nobel Prize committee, gave one of the unrepentant, still-murdering, state-treasury thieving inventors of modern terrorism the Peace Prize.
They don’t say “smart as the devil” for nothing.
That started happening when the NEA took over our schools.
One of my very good friends has a saying that I find sad, but true: Average is pretty stupid.
He illustrates it with any number of stories from his sixth grade teaching days, but if you spend any time in public it becomes pretty clear how stupid most people are. It may sound elitist, but it is true. Fortunately it is curable. Unfortunately, few care about being cured.
MORONS put the white Trash Clintons in office.
That would be more appropriate. Another thing is the simple fact that while people can be very intelligent in certain areas, they can be ignorant/stupid in a host of others. A glance at the statements by some people in the sciences who support Obama reveals troubling ignorance of economics (among a number of subjects). I would bet that is the one area where most Americans are the most ignorant. Like my near ninety year old pappy, they have no idea how free-market capitalism works.
Twice, like dumb and dumber
