I'm chinese, too. After several days here in only a few threads,I found it's difficult to speak freely here.Any good words about Chinese gov. would mark you as a spy or Pla or some "ChiCom propaganda"——a word I even dont know until I use the translation software. It's funny and boring.

What someone here want to hear is that we all hate the gov. and we are suffering in hell in china.Anything else would be regarded as lie. It's hard to communicate with such pertinacious bias.

Funny that it's very same as in some Chinese forum. If anyone of here can read Chinese, you can go to www.tianya.cn(which have more than 20,000,000 registered users and usually 200,000 online),or some other big forum. The reason why so many chinese come here is only because some thread with your link about the quake appeared on such forum. So it's not strange to have some curious ones here.I really see some threads posted by other country which also draw not only welcome but also suspicion.Just like here.

With suspicion communication is hard and even impossible.I think we can do nothing about this and have to leave, leave them in their delusion of persecution.

What are you complaining about? Most FReepers (that we call Jim Robinson’s merry bunch) are sad about the recent tragedies in China and have been praying continually for the dead and the living. At times of human suffering, we are all human beings first - irrespective of our origins, nationality, or regime.

As somebody who came to this country as a foreigner some years ago, I can attest to this aspect of America (also, the largest contributor to disasters and tragedies worldwide incl. the largest Islamic country - Indonesia).

At the same time, if/when we face blatant ChiCom propaganda, we’ll call it so (personally, I’ve not exchanged posts with you or our new Chinese posters until this morning).

Hopefully, our interactions will lead to mutual understanding and amity, and more importantly, freedom and liberty in China and its colonies.

Hi welcome to Free Republic and I am quite impressed with your English!

Most of us know very little about China & have a lot of misinformation no doubt. It is great when some one like you is willing to enlighten us... but then again, we know just like in this country there are often many sides/impressions to the facts.

We get the sensational news which is often bad news re: China as well as most other nations. That would give the overall impression that things are terribly bad for all citizenry.

When the war in Iraq just started I was new to Free Republic & one of the posters was a Chinese gal (I think maybe early 20s ) who loved the American threads but was afraid to be caught by the govt. I am hoping things have changed for her & others. She eventually stopped posting & I always worried she was caught & got into big trouble for having American connections

I love Google earth & love to soar across your immense country

I hope you will stay & not be turned off by some who might be rude & unkind. Many of us hold friendship to be a very important part of FRee Republic. ...NOT just news.
