Prayers for Jim Robinson
May 14, 2008

Prayer Request Jim Robinson is having surgery tomorrow, May 15th See the posts below for information about this procedure. Jim Update:
It has been a frustrating day, I finally have a update for everyone.
I called Jim at the hospital. The nurse was in his room and gave him the phone. Sheila took his cell phone to him so I will be able to contact him easier. Also they took his laptop.
Due to major pain killers, he was able to sleep in the bed last night and was in bed when I called.
He sounded better than he has for the past few months. He will be there for at least one more night; maybe more depending on decisions being made tonight.
They may remove Jim's left leg at the knee tomorrow. The docs have told him that the poison in that leg is going to continue causing problems.
Jim is really reluctant to let them remove the leg but I told him that if it will relieve the pain and stop all the damage it is doing to his internal organs, he should let them take it. Jim cannot use his legs now. He only has limited use of his right leg and no muscle remains in his left leg. The muscular dystrophy has done a number on his muscles while he has been ill.
I hope this makes sense.
When I hear what the decision is, I will let you know. In the meantime, Jim needs our prayers tonight and tomorrow.
Father, hear our prayers. 930 posted on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 8:55:24 PM by JustAmy*********************************
Thanks for all the updates, Amy I just talked to Chris and he said that Notpoliticallycorewrecked is visiting with Jim at this time. He also said that the Doctors have decided that tomorrow Jim has to make the decision about his leg The Doctors believe, as you stated, that it has to be removed to keep the infection from spreading. So I imagine that is the decision he will make. Don't worry about him getting online, he has an air card so he can get online anywhere. He misses being able to read and post here tremendously naturally. This is his baby. Good news that the swelling has gone down dramatically in his left leg and that for the first time in months he is not in pain 24 hrs a day and was able to sleep more than usual. Chris had no idea how long he would be hospitalized, but I would imagine it will be several more days, especially if the operation on his leg is done soon. Good advice you gave Jim, Amy. Yes, Mama Bear don't hesitate to visit, it will be highly appreciated and encouraging to see such good friends as you and that jk I'm sure Jim is blessed indeed to have family that are watching over him closely and taking care of his needs, getting him to the hospital and other numerous tasks And the legion here that are pulling for him.

**************************************** Today's short update:
I just talked to Jim; the surgery will be performed tomorrow. He doesn't know what time yet. He said he is feeling pretty good. Also, he slept off and on last night. May have been due to the stress.
I am going to try to see him this afternoon. He has some tests scheduled but he doesn't think they will take very long.
He is not allowed to have his laptop in the patient area so he cannot get online until he can get down to the lobby.
His words ..... "Please tell everyone how much I appreciate their thoughts and prayers. Oh Yeah ..... tell them I'll be back online as soon as I'm able.
Anyway, thank you for your prayers.

“”patience”” is the key. I spend 8 hours on many and sometimes a few days to find, cutout, paint and assemble.
You have to love it to do it.
Getting back on topic, I am so happy to hear that JimRob is doing so well.

"I won't post the picture here 'cause this thread is about Da Man, not me... "
Your medesty noted, thanks for directing me to that thread anyway. I really, really enjoyed that, and it goes to show the size of FREE REPUBLIC that I have never seen it before.
I've never really corresponded with Jim much over the years since JudyB1938 brought me on board here back in the late 90's, but nonetheless, knowing Jim was here "somewhere" all the time was like, well ... a 9mm close at hand and a big mean dog in the yard, or a US Navy carrier group out prowling the high seas somewhere.
Guess God felt FR's "Good Shepherd" still has work to do on station, reading the debriefings on how well Jim is doing in the wake of this one trial, and clearly everybody at FREE REPUBLIC is grateful!

The humble red X is so unappreciated these days. Why, you're right! I don't see many posts about Mr./Mrs. Red X.
Well then. I think I'll leave 'em right where he's at...thank you for reminding me.

Here is your update.
I went in to see Jim today. Dr. Zoo was already on duty. Jim's sister and BIL were there also.
Jim is having a bit of a rough spot today. He is in good spirits and has a great sense of humor. But his tummy isn't agreeing with him right now.
He is not hungry and what little he ate is acting like it doesn't want to stay down. We tried several things help him get his meds down and to try and get a bit of nourishment into him.
So Jim needs some major prayer about his upset tummy.
Several other good things that happened. One was that a beautiful bouquet of fruits arrived from a famous freeper from Washington. Also Jim roommate was moved to another room. So right now he is alone in that room. Since Jim's hospital bed was causing problems we managed to get Jim moved to the better bed by the window. So now he has a larger area of the room, he is by the window and he has a bed that will help with his condition that is much more comfortable.
