If it's """conservatives""", as I noted to the stay at homes in 2006, the GOP will move more to the left because """conservatives""" don't show up and vote. Like the college kids, lots of talk, but nothing there .

1. No one is advocating or stating that they will stay home for all races, just the one where we have a fake-republican running.
2. There is no empirical evidence to support your conclusion, in fact, the evidence supports the opposite conclusion, if you reward the GOP for moving Left, they will just move further to the Left. That has been proven in the last 4 elections since Reagan left the political scene.
3. The stated goal of the GOP elite is to move the party to the Center (Left for conservatives)

The only solution available to us is three-fold:

1. Fight for and elect conservatives whereever they run
2. Do not vote for the RINOs like McCain (send a message).
3. Work to remove the moderate-liberal elite from the GOP party structure.

If you're referring to my suggestion that Reagan could have become President had Ford won in 1976, no, there's no evidence. I simply have more confidence in his positive message than you. Reagan excelled for his attributes, not because he was an anti-Carter.

As to rewarding the GOP for moving left, your contension is that by staying home and aiding in the election of a Marxist, the GOP will look to the non-voters on the right next election, rather than those in the middle who actually show up on election day. And that the damage to the nation will be well worth it because in 4 or 8 years we'll elect .....

Hmmmmm.

Just who is this superman with no electoral support within the GOP you expect to emerge?

We'll see. I think you're a dreamy eyed as many Obama supporters. Who do show up and vote.

I agree. People here want to give repubs what they haven’t earned.

Bet they don’t do that with their own kids.

The whole strawman aspect to the argument is that we do NOT move the party right or left in general elections.

We move the party right or left in PRIMARIES.

We move the COUNTRY right or left in general elections.
And an Obama win MOVES THE COUNTRY TO THE LEFT.

Club for growth is very good at trying to move the
They are focussed on *PRIMARIES* right now - Gilchrest was one, there was another in Pennsylvania; a third example is CfG working against Ose and for McClintock in California.

Letting the leftist Obama win in November to cure a RINO candidate is a bit like shooting yourself in the head to cure a headache.
Surely there are better ways.
