A federal appeals court has barred logging in the Sierra Nevada forest.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals says the federal government failed to explore other ways to raise money to fight forest fires when it approved a plan to award timber contracts to cut down trees on three sites.
The Forest Service says the logging of commercially valuable trees is needed to help pay for thinning of less desirable smaller trees and brush.
Environmental groups say the logging plan fails to protect scarce species such as the California spotted owl, martin and Pacific fisher. Attorney General Jerry Brown joined the environmental groups in appealing a lower court decision last year that authorized the government to allow the timber contracts.

All I can say is........ARRGGHH.............
And when the overgrown forest burns, killing the California spotted owls, martins and Pacific fishers, the greenies will be jumping for joy, shouting, "It's Bush's fault!"
Have you ever read “Term Limits” by Vince Flynn? We need a lot of people to read that book.
Stupid Californians. Putting Jerry Brown back into office. And I can say this because I live here.
Every time California burns, I laugh my ass off.
Me, too. If only we could get a bunch of these econazis to camp in a bunch of the trees just before they burn...
We haven’t had good rains anywhere for a couple months, everything is drying out,, the state is as ready as they can be, but not a heck of a lot has been done to reduce the fuel load from dense underbrush growth and dead trees that fill many of the forested areas these days. when the West burns , the econuts and their congre$$ional mouthpieces will be more to blame than anyone.
by the end of this fire season, you may end up like my bro-in-law, no butt at all, cinch up that belt real tight!
