I know too many people who smoke who HAVE NOT gotten cancer to have faith in the reports anymore. There is a population of people who never smoked who get lung cancer- can we conclude that NOT smoking causes cancer? Of course not.

Not to be pro or anti smoking but the logic is every loose.

Does going into combat increase the premature death rate of the population that goes into combat?

Yes.

Does smoking increase the premature death rate of the population that smokes?

Yes.

Am I going to tell people that they cannot risk their lives if they want to?

No.
