Add to that the really compelling reason for all of FR to step up and oppose Obama in the only effective way to deny him power — the staff. The administration.

A McCain Administration will be staffed from the GOP. Obama will staff with the explicit, overt leftists from DU and Kos.

Of course it matters, but the devil is in the details. If McCain says coal is bad, so we're fast-tracking nuclear, great. If he says electric cars are the future, and gives hefty tax breaks to bring battery manufacturers into the country, all the better. However, if he says car companies must have an average of 60mpg by 2010, or declares huge portions of the U.S. as open space and off limits to development, or makes it even more difficult to manufacture anything with new ppb pollution regulations, then we're screwed.

I understand the argument. But McCain isn't going to have a "GOP" staff. Look who is heading his campaign in Ohio: Mike DeWine. Is this eco-weenie the kind of guy you want heading up the EPA or Dept. of Energy??? Or Christie Todd Whitman? These are the kind of GOP people we absolutely don't need in office.

I'm more convinced by the day that we are better off to let the Dems have it and ride the country into the toilet so we can get a mandate to build it up. We have two examples of it taking a pretty bleak circumstance for people to get some sense: Reagan in 1980 and Thatcher in 1979.

You are correct that only oil matters for the next 40 years. But McNasty won’t even drill for it in ANWR or off the coast. But it’s OK for China to drill off the coast of Florida for Cuba.

If this loser is not replaced at the convention, the GOP will be in the minority for the forseeable future.
