Damn straight. Cry-baby Boehner, Loser Cole, everyone. Time for a Redeker Plan a la “World War Z” - save what we can to plan a comeback.

I sympathize with you but Tom Cole is not really the problem. The problem is the total incompetence of the president and the congress to take charge during the 8 years they have had. Total inability to articulate and pursue conservative views and solutions have brought this and the inevitable future defeats. While many dems will hesitate to vote for Obama, they will in the end do so and this November will not even be close even should all conservatives vote for McCain and, of course, many justifiably will not.

Maybe this year is going to get worse. Heck I thought 06 was the low water mark. Brace up. I only hope we at least keep the White House.

I dont think you can blame anyone at the NRCC, NRSC, or anyone else.

When you have a President of your party with a 28% approval rating, no one with an R next to their name has much of a chance.

The only hope for the GOP I fear is if Obama wins the presidency he is such a disaster that it can rebuild the party. But right now, we are pretty much scewed thanks to Bush and his inability to fight back, lead, and play the game.

Three large counties still out. Tate, Itawamba and Clay. Does anyone know the normal political leanings of these counties?

No, I don’t.

DJ might know, but I don’t know if he’s online right now.

How can they call a race that close?

For one thing, Childers is pulling further ahead.

Precincts Total 411/462

T. Childers 49,406 52%
G. Davis 46,009 48%

Also, Chiders’s home county is still reporting, and he’s way, way ahead there.

With 90% of the precincts reporting, Childers, D is winning by over 3,000 votes and the AP has called the race for Childers over the Davis, R.

Yep. The perception of Bush’s second term has been an unmitigated disaster. Regardless of the truth he appears to have been controlled by events rather than the other way.

Sad truth is that the media has gone a long way into unmaking Bush and the American people have been too happy to go along with it. “Conservative” Fox News has not been able to make up.

Don’t tell me Davis is a bad candidate. This party and therefore the conservative movement is going down the tubes.

In 2004 Clay was slight Dem. Itawamba heavy Rep. Tate moderate rep.

Greg Davis did suffer a regional problem. He is from the Memphis suburbs, and the Tupelo area wanted one of its own. But that alone doesn’t explain it.

I note that in 2006 the Rep candidate won by a vote of 95,000 to 65,000. What a tremendous disaster this year.

Analytical skills ought to be a hallmark of conservatives. We can’t pick ‘em though.

Elemental elocution skills would be helpful. Also the ability to appoint people other than your Texas cronies, who didn't have the foggiest idea of how to handle their jobs.

I don’t want to sound too negative but remember that the only good conservative congresscriters will not only have to deal with the criticism of the democrats and their media but will be constantly lectured and corrected by the GOP Presidential candidate.

The Rep went from a 30,000 vote victory in 2006 to a 7,000 vote defeat in 2007. It looks like the GOP carried all of 4 out of the 24 counties in the district.

This is enough of a defeat, if it happened in a country with a parliamentary system would require the resignation of the entire party leadership from the President or Prime Minster on down. Too bad we don’t have that system.
