Yes, but was the truck damaged by any shots? Then it would be tragic. These are important details!
To: dynachrome
Chalk up another one to self-defense.

Wow, wonder if it was a re-possession!

Patching a few holes, no problem. Getting blood out of the upholstery can be a pain.

Give the shooter a cigar. Victim gets truck back, crook is dead and and will never steal again.Taxpayers and insurance company save a fortune.

Based on the picture of the briefly stolen truck (Low-rider Ford F150) and the city (Phoenix) I’d say you will probably be proven correct.

Patching a few holes, no problem. Getting blood out of the upholstery can be a pain. But in Arizona, that's the kind of job we need illegal aliens for.
To: dynachrome
My major legal concern on this matter is how will the insurance company handle it.
To: dynachrome
Naw, leave them there and paint on a small sign that says “This is what happened to the last car thief”
To: JOAT
It is not a low rider. It is just a typical POS Ford.

Another happy ending! Dead perp, living homeowner - damaged truck. But hey, we have insurance for our vehicles so that’s all good.

The vehicle crashed into a wall and when police arrived they found the suspect slumped over the wheel. I hope the front end's not too messed up.

The suspect had been shot in the head and died at the scene. At least they ID'd the suspect and the victim properly

But the police were, once again, telling folks to "call 911" and "Be a good witness", rather than defending themselves and/or their property.
http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2008/05/09/20080509truckshooting0509.html
From the link:
Instead, the Police Department advises people who suspect a crime to call 911 and, Tranter said, to act as "good witnesses."
Sgt. Joel Tranter is a spokesman for the PPD.
Pulling out your cell phone and calling 911, when a guy is trying to run you down with your own vehicle, doesn't seem like an optimum move. It would only be natural to take your firearm with you when you stepped outside to investigate why your truck was starting while you weren't there, so that you could be that "good witness", and be able to at least describe the perp.

Good for him. One less scumbag society has to deal with.
