It's still on my top 5 or 10 sitcoms ever list. Especially when 'Fred' was in his prime. Later on the series stunk. He became a different character altogether. Big ego took over and he wasn't very funny at all. 'Lamont', I think, was underrated. He actually was a terrific straight man for Fred, yet often very funny himself. Others on the list include:
Abbott and Costello (tv series w/ Mike the cop, Mr Fields and Stinky)
Honeymooners
Andy Griffith (w/ Don Knotts)
Green Acres
Odd Couple (Randall and Klugman)
Green Acres and Odd Couple both had good theme music (especially all the versions of Green Acres: "Purple Haze, rap, punk, etc).
Green Acres is tops in my memories. "Are you goin' in to Hoosterville today, Mr. Douglas?"
Sometimes I think I could be that man. In fact, my very first FR screenname was OliverWendellDouglas. I used to get flamed because apparently O W Holmes was a liberal. They read wayyyyyyyy too much into that handle.
