Pointless war?
You mean the one where we haven’t had a domestic attack in 7 years? Including the Alaska pipeline?
Or the one that stopped the corrupt oil-for-food program?
Or the one that kept nuclear weapons out of Iraq’s hands and in all likelihood averted a far bigger war which would have otherwise sapped all domestic sources of oil?

1) We could have prevented a domestic attack without Iraq
2) Yawn. If it wasn't for RINO republicans like Bush' father we never would have had to worry about oil for food
3) Again misses my point--IF we a domestic energy policy oil would be nothing and the ME countries wouldn't be overflowing with oil revenue and couldn't afford nuclear energy. Even if you assume overthrowing the regime was necessary to prevent nukes, 5 years of nation building certainly was not.

I should also add the Iraq nation building has practically single handledly destroyed the Republican Party. I’ll be amazed if Republicans keep a filibuster minority this year.
