Why Don’t I Blame George W. Bush? Because the Blame Game Has No Winners
North Star Writers Group ^ | May 12, 2008 | Herman Cain

Posted on 05/12/2008 4:54:33 AM PDT by Dukes Travels

A caller to my nightly radio show last week called to complain that I was not blaming President George W. Bush enough for the current gasoline crisis due to out-of-control oil prices on the world market.

He also attempted to chastise me for not blaming President Bush and the Republicans in Congress for allowing the national debt to grow to over $9.4 trillion dollars while they controlled both houses of Congress and the White House.

He also tried to make a case that America was heading in the “wrong direction” because of the policies of the Bush Administration.

Sorry, Herman, but placing appropriate blame for problems helps society learn from mistakes and hopefully not repeat them. It's important to highlight and remember the notable screw-ups of history. Bush will be one of them.

Yeah riiiiiiight.

1) During the Bush Administration Libya gives up its nuclear weapons program.

2) During the Bush Administration the black market from Pakistan led by A.Q.Kahn for nuclear weapons technology is broken up.

3) During the Bush Administration North Korea begins dismantling their plutonium enrichment reactors.

4) During the Bush Administration Israel and the U.S.A. destroy Syria's nuclear weapons enrichment reactors.

5) During the Bush Administration, Saddam Hussein who said quite clearly while in jail awaiting his trial that he would have had the U.N. sanctions broken and be in full production of WMDs within a year. That would be the years 2004 - 2005 approximately that Saddam would have been re-armed with WMDs. It now goes without saying the obvious that Saddam will not be getting nuclear weapons anytime soon. Nor will he be directly funding and training the terror group 'Islamic Jihad' which is al-Qaeda and whom blew up two U.S. embassies. (see the recent: Iraqi Perspectives Project).

6) During the Bush Administration the U.S.A. has nuclear weapon ambitious Iran pinned in on both sides from Afghanistan and Iraq which is pure strategic genius.

Under Clinton the countries Pakistan and India successfully test nuclear weapons and North Korea begins plutonium enrichment .

True, but in the case of gasoline prices the blame falls squarely at the feet of this Congress and previous Congress' (fully including members from both sides of the ever blurring aisle) for intentionally limiting domestic supply by restricting domestic drilling and refining. 'Course, the Fed continuing to devalue the dollar hasn't helped much, either......

Also, let’s remember President Bush liberated over 50 million people...enough to make him a world hero to any reasonable person. Perhaps, we should also remember President Bush’s stance on embryonic stem cell research, otherwise known as creating life (considered substandard) to use for experiments. And, I suppose we cannot really be fair and forget that because of President Bush’s quck actions with tax rebates and tax cuts gave us the most shallow recession (2001) since the forty’s. Oh wait, let’s see, President Bush also took on the Teacher’s Union and actually did something to at least put a muzzle on public educations bigotry. The President did fail though on trying to bring private ownership of our own retirement accounts. But then again, that wasn’t really the President’s failure, that was our failure. Oh, and President Bush did get some great Supreme Court justices and other ethical judges pushed through. And, let’s not forget the great humanitarian efforts he made to the suffering in Africa, President Bush is truly the first African President by their own terms...I view President Bush’s terms in office not as a failure but rather as an extraordinarily successful Presidency but a failure on the part of the American people to stand with their President.

President Bush has allowed millions of illegal aliens to plague our nation, and done virtually nothing to stop them. Moreover, he's tried, more than once, to provide them amnesty and a path to citizenship. All the other “accomplishments” you list above will mean nothing to us within two generations, when the largest voting demographic in the US are those voters who came here illegally, or were born of those who came her illegally.

If Bush has his way our nation is doomed. Allowing that 20Million illegals to stay and spawn a new generation will go down in history as the biggest single screw-up made by any president in US history.
