I am a Chinese, 25 years old editer in Beijing. Sorry that my English is not good, just can read and write simple words.

Thank you all for your kindly concerns and prayers for the Chinese victims in the huge disaster.

But some guys’ words makes me feel unhappy, like EagleandLiberty and some others. Have you ever been to China? Then where you get the news of messages of “Free-Tibet”? Who sad we can not criticize our gov in public? Who sad we can not visit CNN BBC TouTube even Google? I am using Gmail and Google Docs now, using Google Transform to helping writing this words now. And just half an hour ago I was playing World of Warcraft and I have two Lv70 characters (BTW, virtual currency trade is also forbidden in China). 6 hours ago I had dinner in Kentucky Fried Chicken (delicious but unhealthy, I see...). We can listen American programmes on the raido, can visit an forums you can visit. We can play punks rocks and any other kind of music in the bars, can watch American movies in the theaters (so many Hollywood movies! I like independent film more). We can criticize our gov on newspapers and TV and webs, ——just now we are assailing the gov on our posts, why the gov can’t warn the earthquake. I am not a Christian but some of my friends are, they prayed in the church in the afternoon because of the quake. BTW, We can freely select Christianly Judaism Islam Buddhism Communism or any other thiesm/ atheism to believe in.-—— Except the Falungong, I support our gov in this case. My aunt was a member of Falungong, she didn’t to accept medical but only recited scriptures when got diabetes. That’s horrorable!

OK, China is not that autocracy straggly country in your minds, and democracy doesn’t mean multi-parties only. We have diffrent histories and civs, so we have diffrent nowadays. It’s nature. I think all we can do better is to communicate, to understand each other. I was very intrested in Europe history and Greek mythology when I was a middle school student. And I think our history stories are also interesting, after all, there’s only one 5000-years-civ alives in the world today.

Talk about hisrory, do you believe Corsica is a part of France? Do you believe Basque belongs to Spain? So why don’t you belive Tibet is a part of China? Tibet became a province of China at AD 1300s, a province, not a state nor a nation. I have Tebetain schoolmates and friends and common relationship persons, Tibetians are normal in our cities and towns, not peculiar, not servile in our lifes. Everyone can travel to Tibet freely, including you and I. If you wish Tibet to be a free society, just go there to take look, you may don’t believe Chinese medias, then just believe your eyes: Whether Tibet is free or not now.

This lv7.8 earthquake occurs at Sichuan, a province nearby Tibet, many Tibetain lives there. Sichuan is a population centre of western China, and a famous tourist area (the moutains and lakes you see in the movie “Crouching Tigher Hidden Dragon”, “Heroes” an “The Forbidden Kingdom” are all in Sichuan), about 1 billion people lives and travels. The damned earthquake occers at the town area, now the number of death is “near 10,000”, still developing!!! Our National Premier Wen Jiabao is in the disaster area to cammand the assistant now, our national TV programme lives at 24hs. I saw a little girl about 10 years carrying out by relievers, but more are still blaming under the ruins of school, Seems they are alive! And the city of Chengdu and Chongqing are safe, no building down in the two 10 million population city, that’s a good news! God bless! But the harder-hit area is rainning now, too bad...

I think I have wrote too much. I just want you know a country I am living in named China, a big and modern country. We are not “brainwashed” people, no one can wash your brains in a society have Online Games, 24hs lived news, punks, 7-11, web forums, right? Now we are worrying about the earthquake in Sichuan. We need your belesses, though the people in disaster area can not connect web to read now, but I think they can feel the warmness.

I am very sorry for all the suffering your people are going through right now.

I am sending up many prayers for the rescue of all those trapped. I am sure our country will be sending search teams with their specially-trained dogs soon.

My heart goes out to the parents of the hundreds of trapped children. I am praying for many miracles to take place.

Stay strong, stay steadfast.

God bless you and all the Chinese people.

Good report.

there’s only one 5000-years-civ alives in the world today.

There is a great interest in ancient civilization on this forum. You might be interested in being on the GGG pinglist.

Thank you so much for your post. My husband, our son, and I travel to your beautiful country about three or four times a year with our business. We have, without fail, been met with kindness, caring and generosity. Most Americans do not understand your country and have some valid disagreements with your government. But your people, at least the ones we have met and done business with, are wonderful. I have great admiration for your culture and your history. I really wish more Americans could share the experiences we have had in China. I know that we have disagreements on policy, religion, human rights, etc. But this disaster you are going through right now should have no political nor humanitarian boundaries.

My entire family offers their prayers and sympathy for you and your countrymen.

I think your English is great!

I’m *so* glad you have posted your thoughts and feelings here. The insensitivity that’s been demonstrated by a few of our members in this thread is not a reflection of FR as a whole. Your people are hurting and you should know that American hearts are breaking hearing the loss and devastation you have suffered. You are in our prayers.
