China Hit By Earthquake

An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale has hit China's Sichuan province. The tremor was felt across the entire region - shaking buildings in the capital, Beijing, as well as the Thai capital, Bangkok, and Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. US Geological Survey said the quake struck 57 miles north-west of the city of Chengdu at 2.29pm local time (6.28am GMT).

Some 10 million people live in Chengdu.

Hehe, I often criticize my government, slash and hypercorrectness, from corrupt to the traffic in Beijing. I am an editor, and I have some contaction of a number of offical. Some of them are really amateur to be a civil server, ignorance and self-opinioned.

But in another a point of view, manage a 13 billion polulation and 12 million km2 territory is a huge huge challenge to any goverment and any party. How to feed 1.3 billion mouthes? How to nestle them? How to develop the huge market? How to make the diffrent religions to survive together peacefully? Any small mistakes can destory the huge society. The government did and doing hardly works I can see. Gov was not mature, made wrong things and got high prices. Now thing goes better after 1990s, though we still have stupied policy, but I can feel everything goes well as a citizen. I criticize, and I also give my understand and proposes to them.

I grew up in a professor family in a university, when I was 6 years old I sight what happened in 1989. Now I am 25, my country and my government changes so much. The government’s work is far to be perfect, but I say it’s “very well”, and can go much more better in the after days. Most Chinese can rating “pass” or “fine” to the gov’s works, that’s our close-up aware of living. OK, we can talk about any subject, that’s our humanright, Chinese are very caring about a foreigner says “you don’t have humanrights”, haha...

China is really diffrent nowadays. Refresh all your impressions to get a lot of new yellow friends.

I pray this is nowhere near the tragedy 1976 quake Tangshan: The Deadliest Earthquake I don't think it will be so bad as Tangshan. 1,Tangshan Earthquake is at night,this is in the afternoon 2,Tangshan is a big industrial city,and has many people, but Wenchuan is a poor county, many people are in South China for jobs almost the whole year,they only go back home during Chinese New Year (in January or February)

I dont know how to explain it.Some Chinese People came here just to see if Americans are really care about their brethrens death.Becaues many Chinese thought you US guys would be very happy to see Chinese sufferings, which was what they were told by government.And ,I am sorry to say, that was just many of CHinese did when US suffered disasters.

In fact the tianya.cn post mentioned compares US people and Chinese people’s attitudes towards the other country’s disaster.You can see prayers in US part, and hoorays in China part.The article’s author(which is me)appreciated all the prayers and blessing from US, and accused his country fellows of being so inhuman.

I think that article made some Chinese very shock.

It’s a huge disaster for china.And we are very sad now.

I’m a chinese in Shanghai.I saw this site’s link in a big forum of china.

it’s good to see all those sympathetic post here.But some posts really hurt me and made me a little angry.I think it’s the same reason why some chinese like me come here and say something.

I don’t want to talk about politics or something like that.that’s too complicated. I just wanna clarify some truth.

We chinese are having good life just like you.(especially in coastal citys,like Shanghai). Internet and computer can be used almost everywhere by anyone.We can play online games,watch news worldwide,visit any website throughout the world.(that’s why i’m here)

yes,the goverment blocked some website for some reason which we don’t think completely wrong.Because we have too many many many people here.it’s hard to feed and lead such a big country.there are many kinds of us,good ,bad,and natural.Some are easy to provocated and instigated.especially those uneducated,that’s almose hundred millions.None country would allow such a dangerous possibility which may lead us to war.that’s why something should be controled.WE are chinese,we have our history and experience.So we know it and understand it.For nation’s benefit something should be sacrificed,especially in our circumstance.So,the filter system is needed and so long effective for these uneducated people.I think same thing happens in every country all over the world even in different forms.
